On the evening of January 22, speaking with VietNamNet, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Trong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ea Hiao Commune, Ea H'leo District (Dak Lak Province) said that a tragic drowning incident had just occurred in the area, causing the death of 4 female students.

According to initial information, at around 1:00 p.m. the same day, a group of students from Hoang Hoa Tham Secondary School, Ea Hiao Commune (Ea H'leo District) invited each other to go to the dam in village 7 of the commune to bathe.

Here, 4 female students went down to the lake to bathe, the remaining 2 female students waited on the shore. Because the water was deep, all 4 female students went down to bathe and drowned, dying.

According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ea Hiao commune, of the 4 female students who were in the accident, 3 lived in village 9, the remaining one lived in village 8. Notably, 2 of the victims were sisters, in grades 9 and 8.

The drowning point is a dam about 6-7km from the school.
