According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the department will directly enroll in grade 10 for the following cases:
Students graduating from secondary school in the 2023-2024 school year in Ho Chi Minh City and are disabled students (with a certificate according to regulations).
Students who won national and international prizes in culture, arts, and national science and technology competitions for middle and high school students (national prizes organized or co-organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, or organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; international prizes nominated by the Ministry of Education or Department of Education, or nominated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).
This year, Ho Chi Minh City will add direct admission subjects to students who have won national and international sports competitions organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism or are sent to competitions by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The Department of Education and Training said the above adjustment aims to achieve the goal of developing the sports movement and creating a source of athletes for the city's sports schools.
Students will apply for direct admission with 3 wishes to public high schools near their place of residence in the city (except for specialized high schools, high schools with specialized classes, schools implementing the high-quality program "advanced schools, international integration").
As for students who won prizes in the National Science and Technology Competition (for middle and high school students organized by the Ministry of Education) or students who won international prizes (in subjects corresponding to the national general education program), they are allowed to register for direct admission to all public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City (except specialized high schools).
Also according to the Department of Education and Training, candidates who win national and international sports awards (organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism or nominated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) will be considered and approved by the Direct Admission Council for each award and assigned to schools suitable to the students' abilities and geographical distance.
The application for direct admission to grade 10 includes: direct admission application and certificate of disability issued by a competent authority or a valid certificate of national or international awards (issued by the Ministry of Education or awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee).
This year's 10th grade entrance exam will be held on June 6 and 7, 2024. Candidates for public 10th grade are students who graduated from junior high school in the 2023-2024 school year in Ho Chi Minh City within the prescribed age.
Regulations on bonus points when entering grade 10
On the morning of March 19, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City also announced regulations on bonus points when taking the 10th grade entrance exam. Specifically as follows:
- Add 2 points for one of the following subjects: Children of martyrs; Children of war invalids with 81% or more loss of working capacity; Children of people granted "Certificate of beneficiaries of policies for war invalids, and the person granted the Certificate of beneficiaries of policies for war invalids has 81% or more loss of working capacity".
- Add 1.5 points for one of the following subjects: Children of Armed Forces Heroes, children of Labor Heroes; Children of war invalids with less than 81% working capacity loss; Children of people granted "Certificate of beneficiaries of policies for war invalids, but the person granted the Certificate of beneficiaries of policies for war invalids has less than 81% working capacity loss".
- Add 1 point for one of the following subjects: People whose father or mother is an ethnic minority; Ethnic minorities.
