From small-scale production, in early 2020, Mr. Phan Truong Au's family in Phu Sa village (Que Xuan 1 commune, Que Son) decided to register to participate in the OCOP program with the typical product of coconut waffles.
With support of more than 220 million VND from the Que Son district authorities and local authorities, Mr. Au has the conditions to invest in expanding production facilities and purchasing modern machinery and equipment to improve operating capacity and product quality.
Mr. Au said that at the end of 2020, Phu Sa coconut waffle was recognized by the People's Committee of Quang Nam province as meeting 3-star OCOP standards. Since achieving 3-star OCOP standards, the product consumption market has continuously expanded, and the output of goods sold has also increased quite strongly.
“In the first 10 months of 2024, on average, my facility supplied the market with about 15,000 products per month and achieved a revenue of 150 million VND. After deducting expenses, the remaining net profit was at least 30 million VND/month, double that of 2019 and before,” said Mr. Au.
Mr. Tran Vu Tanh - Deputy Head of Que Son Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that from 2018 to now, the staff of relevant departments of the district and 13 communes and towns in the area have actively supported the subjects participating in the OCOP program from the stage of determining ideas to establishing and implementing production - business plans into practice of each unit according to the OCOP cycle.
At the same time, regular training on technology transfer, application of science and technology, brand building, trade promotion and product promotion. From the annual budget allocated by the provincial budget, in the period of 2018 - 2024, Que Son district has spent more than 4.2 billion VND to support the implementation of the OCOP program.
“The above-mentioned capital mainly supports entities to invest in factories, purchase equipment and machinery for production, set up packaging designs, build brands…” - Mr. Tanh said.
Mr. Tran Vu Tanh informed that by the end of October 2024, Que Son had 25 products recognized by the Provincial People's Committee and Que Son District People's Committee as meeting OCOP standards; including 21 3-star products and 4 4-star products.
According to the plan, in 2025 Que Son will continue to spend more than 500 million VND to support entities implementing the OCOP program, striving to have at least 4 new products meeting OCOP standards from 3 stars or higher.
