Quang Ngai cuts more than 3,000 staff in 7 years

After 7 years of implementing Resolution 18, up to now, the number of public service units in Quang Ngai has decreased by 23% compared to 2017.

On December 26, the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee said that, implementing Resolution No. 18 of the Central Executive Committee, over the past 7 years, the locality has basically completed the goals and targets set for the 2018-2024 period.

Thereby, the apparatus from the province to the grassroots level is streamlined, operating effectively and efficiently; effectively implementing the streamlining of staff associated with restructuring, improving the quality, and effectively using the staff, civil servants, and public employees of the whole province, contributing to reducing regular expenditures.

After 7 years of implementing the arrangement and merger, Quang Ngai province has cut more than 3,000 positions.

Specifically, the province has arranged and consolidated a number of organizations and internal focal points of each organization in the direction of reducing focal points, minimizing intermediate levels, and reducing deputy levels. To date, 2 agencies and units under the province have been reduced; 94 departments and equivalent units under provincial and district-level agencies and units have been reduced; 7 branches under the Department and 41 departments under branches under the Department have been reduced.

In particular, 3,156 provincial and district-level positions were cut compared to the number of positions assigned in 2017. At the same time, 3 merger models were implemented: Party Committee Office with People's Council and People's Committee Office at district level in 13/13 localities and a number of new models on organizational structure and concurrent positions were piloted.

As of October 31, 2024, the whole province has reduced 208 public service units compared to 2017 (reaching a rate of 23.0%), exceeding the set target; reduced 32 deputy levels compared to 2017.

Reduce one district-level administrative unit and 14 commune-level administrative units; reorganize and merge 373 villages, thereby reducing 202 villages and residential groups; reduce 1,762 non-professional village and residential group workers. After January 1, 2025, Quang Ngai will reduce 2 more communes, bringing the number of communes and wards down to 170 units.
