* Russian Air Force receives 4++ generation Su-35S fighter jets

Army Recognition quoted Tass News Agency as saying that the United Aircraft Corporation, a subsidiary of Russia's Rostec Corporation, has delivered the first batch of 4++ generation Su-35S fighters this year to the Russian Air Force and Space Force.

The Su-35S is Russia's most advanced multirole fighter. With its superior maneuverability, long-range engagement capabilities and next-generation avionics, this 4++ generation aircraft significantly enhances the combat capabilities of the Russian Aerospace Forces. This comes as Russia modernizes its air force.

Along with air superiority, the Su-35S also possesses the ability to strike land and sea targets. The fighters delivered in this batch are equipped with modern avionics, long-range targeting systems and extended precision-guided munitions, ensuring effective operation in a wide range of combat situations and in all weather conditions.

Compared to its predecessors, the latest version of the Su-35S incorporates a number of improvements, notably the IUS-35 integrated information and control system. This system reduces the pilot's workload while improving situational awareness. The passive phased array (PESA) radar system provides a detection range of up to 400km, enabling long-range engagements against a wide range of airborne threats. Advanced thrust vectoring engines give the Su-35S superior maneuverability, giving it an advantage in close-range dogfights.

Designed for high-intensity combat environments, the Su-35S has a maximum take-off weight of 34.5 tons, a maximum speed of 2,500 km/h and a service ceiling of 20,000 m. Its combat radius ranges from 1,500 to 4,500 km, allowing it to carry out strike missions far from its base. Armament includes the GSh-30-1 30 mm cannon, multi-range air-to-air missiles, Kh-series anti-ship missiles and a variety of guided and unguided bombs.

* France integrates AI into Leclerc XLR tank

The French defense and technology procurement agency has officially approved the integration of advanced artificial intelligence (AI)-powered observation functions into the sight of the Leclerc XLR main battle tank. These features promise to bring major advances in battlefield awareness, threat detection and target classification.

The Leclerc XLR is the latest modernized version of the famous French Leclerc main battle tank, first introduced in the early 1990s. In addition to its speed, maneuverability and advanced fire control, the Leclerc XLR also features significant upgrades in armor protection, digital systems and situational awareness. By integrating AI into its sensor suite, the Leclerc XLR becomes one of the most sophisticated main battle tanks in the world, suitable for dealing with a wide range of security challenges.

Accordingly, the Leclerc XLR incorporates a remote-controlled weapon station developed by the Belgian company FN Herstal. Protection is significantly improved with additional modular armor on both the turret and hull, as well as rear armor to protect the engine compartment from anti-tank grenade launchers. Furthermore, the Leclerc XLR is integrated with an information and command system, a tactical radio communication system and advanced night vision equipment. These improvements enhance the survivability, situational awareness and combat effectiveness of the Leclerc XLR, ensuring its competitiveness on modern battlefields.

With the ability to update the situation almost instantly, Leclerc XLR is considered an information center, collecting, processing and sharing intelligence in real time.

AI-enabled systems process input from multiple sensors such as optical cameras, thermal cameras, and radars to provide enhanced situational awareness in real time. By fusing data from these diverse sources, AI significantly improves the accuracy and reliability of threat detection and target identification, even in challenging conditions such as low visibility or cluttered environments. The ability to rapidly classify targets reduces the risk of mistakenly identifying or neutralizing targets.

* Sweden develops UAV interception system

Nordic Air Defence, a Swedish startup, has developed a lightweight, battery-powered UAV interceptor system called the Kreuger 100.

Using a pulse propulsion system and software-based flight control to track and intercept targets, the system is valued for being more affordable than traditional interceptors that rely heavily on expensive sensors, cameras, and propulsion systems. The design also eliminates much of the hardware typically used in traditional systems, reducing production costs by a factor of 10 compared to standard interceptors or missiles.

The Kreuger 100 includes an infrared tracking system capable of 24/7 operation in various weather conditions, with cloud penetration and night-time capabilities. The system is battery-powered and designed to be launched manually, including from a hand-held or mobile launcher, allowing for use in both fixed and mobile defense situations.

According to the manufacturer, the Kreuger 100 version for civilian use can reach speeds of up to 270km/h and is deployed to protect airports, nuclear power plants, ports, government buildings and ships. The speed of the military version is revealed to be much higher than the civilian version.
