Phuoc Son aims to escape poverty by the end of 2025

On the afternoon of March 27, in Phuoc Son district, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan and the working delegation worked with district leaders to assess the progress of implementation and disbursement of National Target Programs (NTPs) for the period 2021-2025.

According to the report of Phuoc Son district leaders, by the end of 2024, the New Rural Development Program will achieve an average of 14.6 criteria/commune, 3 communes will meet the standards, and it is expected that by the end of 2025, 2 more communes will meet the standards. The Sustainable Poverty Reduction Program recorded a decrease in the poverty rate from 55.15% in 2021 to 20.47% in 2024, exceeding the target by 6-7%, aiming to escape the status of a poor district by the end of this year. With the Ethnic Minorities and Rural Areas program, the poverty rate will decrease by 7%/year, exceeding the target by 3%, and infrastructure, education, and health indicators will all meet or exceed the plan.

Regarding disbursement, the total capital for 2024 is 525 billion VND, by January 31, 2025, 62% was disbursed; the capital for 2025 is allocated 83 billion VND, the allocation rates are 100% and 87% respectively. However, Phuoc Son still faces difficulties such as slow disbursement progress, weak management capacity and unfavorable weather. In 2025, the district commits to disbursing 100% of the capital for 2022-2024 before April and the capital for 2025 before December 31.

Phuoc Son district proposed the province to adjust social security policies for rural communes with especially difficult villages, support 34 billion VND for 755 poor households and allocate career funds for 2025.

Vice Chairman Tran Anh Tuan highly appreciated Phuoc Son district's efforts in disbursing national target programs, especially in building new rural areas and determined to escape poverty by 2025. Vice Chairman Tran Anh Tuan requested Phuoc Son to stick closely to the grassroots, actively urge communes and investors to speed up disbursement of projects. Focus on the transitional steps in streamlining the administrative apparatus, to avoid being passive and not affecting the disbursement progress of national target programs in 2025.
