On June 3, according to news from the Office of the People's Committee of Phu Quoc City (Kien Giang), Mr. Huynh Quang Hung, Chairman of the City People's Committee, has just signed and issued a plan to recruit civil servants in 2023.
Accordingly, Phu Quoc City will recruit nearly 120 new teachers from kindergarten to high school. Specifically, the city will recruit 5 kindergarten teachers, 80 primary school teachers, 28 secondary school teachers, 4 high school teachers, the rest will be for clerical, library, laboratory equipment and accounting.
Also according to the plan, recruitment of civil servants will be carried out through competitive examination:
- Round 1: Check the conditions and admission criteria on the application form.
- Round 2: take a written exam on specialized professional subjects to test knowledge and professional skills.
As Thanh Nien Newspaper reported, recently, more and more people from many places have migrated to Phu Quoc to live, leading to a situation where the number of students increases too quickly and too high. The rapid increase in the number of students leads to a situation where the number of students in each class is too large, with some classes having more than 50 students. Despite the high number of students, schools in Phu Quoc cannot open more classes due to lack of teachers.
In the 2022-2023 school year, Phu Quoc will lack 270 teachers. Schools have to find teachers to teach on a temporary contract basis. However, due to the low contract salary, the high cost of living on the island, and the need to rent a house, many teachers (mainly from the mainland) are not interested in teaching on a contract basis. Therefore, the shortage of teachers in Phu Quoc's education sector has not been completely resolved.
