At the 2024 TKV Mass Art Festival held in Ha Long City from November 4-8, the Hon Gai Coal Company's Mass Art Troupe was awarded a special prize. This is a worthy recognition of the tireless efforts of the artists and actors in the Company. However, the award is not surprising to the audience when following the traditional foundation of the mass art movement in Hon Gai Coal over the years.
In the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group today, Hon Gai Coal Company is the unit that invests a lot in cultural and artistic movements, both in terms of facilities and human resources. Cultural and artistic activities have created a relaxing atmosphere for workers so that miners understand that although the mining profession is difficult, the spiritual life is always rich. Every year, the Company organizes cultural programs, competitions, and mass art performances for miners to participate in. The Company has quite a methodical way of doing things.
First of all, it is to search for and train cultural and artistic talents from departments, offices, and workshops through vocal classes and mass art movements of the unit. Recently, through birthday celebration programs for brothers, the unit has also discovered additional factors for the Company's art troupe. These movement's cores are regularly taught and improved by vocal teachers invited by the unit to serve in the Mass Art Performance Awards.
The cultural and artistic movement that has been developing strongly for many years has brought a joyful and exciting atmosphere to Hon Gai Coal Company, creating solidarity and cohesion, contributing to promoting production, completing targets, plans, tasks and building a corporate cultural environment. It is also from this movement that Hon Gai Coal has had many singers who have actively contributed to the cultural and artistic movement and become artists no less than professional artists such as: Le Quyen, Phuong Diep, Sao Mai, later Hong Chinh, Quang Uoc, Nguyen Trong Hien, Do Xuan Truong, Ngoc Mai, Quach Thi Hang, Pham Van Phong...
In that choir, the most notable is the female trio who have been singing together for many years, Phuong Diep, Le Quyen and Sao Mai, all of whom have matured through decades of dedication to the mass arts movement. In particular, Sao Mai Mining Artist, born in 1973, was originally an accountant but has gradually become the core in charge of the cultural and artistic movement of Cao Thang Coal Enterprise and Hon Gai Coal Company. And in this field, she has had significant successes in singing and dancing, being awarded the first prize at the Quang Ninh Television Singing Festival in 1998; being awarded the title of Mining Artist by the Provincial People's Committee and many awards in performances in the province, outside the province and in the Coal industry...
The trio Phuong Diep, Le Quyen and Sao Mai often have elaborate arrangements, reasonable masshup music, and incorporate folk and rap music about their profession. For example, the female trio performance “Chay di song oi” shows the harmony and accompanying dance quite well and very effectively.
Another special thing about Hon Gai Coal is that there is a director who rose from the mass art movement to become a musician and was admitted to the Vietnam Musicians Association. During his 9 years as the Director of this Company, musician Le Nguyen Them, with his compositions, helped Hon Gai Coal turn the impossible into the possible, promoting the art and sports movement. Hon Gai Coal Company was awarded the First Class Labor Medal by the State. Mr. Le Nguyen Them was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the State. Many of his songs are not only considered "Company Songs" but have spread, resounding on many large and small stages in the province, and are sung passionately by many generations of miners.
