Coordinate to speed up the resolution of pending cases

This afternoon, October 8, at the Provincial Customs Department, a meeting was held with coordinating agencies of Quang Tri province for the third quarter, deploying tasks for the fourth quarter of 2024. Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee Ly Kieu Van; Head of the Provincial People's Procuracy Duong Xuan Sanh chaired the meeting.

In the third quarter of 2024, the political security and social order and safety situation in the province will continue to be maintained. Investigation, prosecution, trial, and settlement of criminal, administrative, civil, family, commercial, labor cases... will be ensured in accordance with the law; no wrongful convictions will occur.

The management of detention, custody and execution of sentences, the fight against crime and law violations in all fields are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the law. The security investigation agency has prosecuted 1 new case/2 defendants for the crime of "Activities aimed at overthrowing the people's government". Regarding crimes against social order, the whole province had 30 cases, killing 16 people and injuring 11 people. The investigation agency has newly prosecuted 64 cases/153 defendants; 41 cases of drug law violations occurred. The investigation agency has prosecuted 73 cases/112 defendants. Prosecuted 90 cases/108 defendants for violating the law on economic management order, corruption, positions, environment; information technology, telecommunications networks.

For civil and family cases, 949 cases were accepted at first instance, and 583 cases were resolved. Two labor cases were accepted and one case was resolved. 63 commercial cases were accepted at first instance; 26 were resolved, with 37 remaining. 27 administrative cases were accepted at first instance; 10 were resolved, with 17 remaining. The prosecuting agencies identified 15 key cases and coordinated the organization of 26 experience-sharing sessions.

In addition to the achieved results, the implementation of tasks at the coordinating agencies still encountered many difficulties and obstacles. Therefore, representatives of the coordinating agencies of the province recommended and proposed to the relevant levels and branches to pay attention to and repair the facilities serving the detention of criminals at Nghia An Prison and the Provincial Police Prison.

Timely exchange information and feedback on the progress and results of handling transferred cases so that the handover agency can grasp the situation and results to serve the statistical and reporting work according to regulations. Continue to share experiences and new effective methods of drug prevention with customs officers and civil servants through coordination in arresting actual cases and cases, training and fostering knowledge on drug prevention. Concentrate forces to speed up the investigation of pending and long-standing cases, especially cases of corruption, positions, and public concern...

Speaking at the conference, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Committee Ly Kieu Van emphasized: Currently, there are still many suspended cases in the province. Therefore, the provincial coordinating agencies need to focus more, discuss measures to reduce the number of suspended cases, and create consensus among the people.

Further strengthen the fight against violations and crimes, especially those with increasing trends such as economic crimes, drug crimes, property infringement, high-tech crimes, smuggling, and commercial fraud. Coordinate to speed up the resolution of pending cases, improve the quality of resolving cases and incidents; coordinate to remove difficulties and obstacles in temporary detention, temporary detention, criminal and civil judgment enforcement.

Continue to implement Resolution No. 07-NQ/TU, dated October 2, 2024 of the Standing Committee of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee "on strengthening the leadership of Party committees at all levels in the fight against crime and drug abuse in the province". In the process of implementing the coordination task, if there are any difficulties or problems, the agencies should promptly report to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee for consideration and resolution.
