(NLDO)- According to the plan, in 2024, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province will start construction on 2 social housing projects. However, both projects are behind schedule.

This is the content that Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province Nguyen Cong Vinh has just explained at the 24th session of the Provincial People's Council on overcoming the slow implementation of social housing development according to the projects, programs and plans approved by the nation, the Government and the Provincial People's Council.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh said that in 2024, the Provincial People's Committee committed to starting 2 social housing projects in Vung Tau City, including a project in Ward 10 with a scale of 4.7 hectares and Ward 12 with a scale of 5.7 hectares. However, in reality, both projects have not been approved for investment. Regarding this, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province Nguyen Cong Vinh took responsibility before the voters and delegates of the Provincial People's Council.

The first social housing project in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has been operating for more than 10 years.

According to the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, on December 5, the Provincial People's Committee submitted a list of land-use projects, including social housing projects in Vung Tau City. This list was also reviewed by the Economic and Budget Committee of the Provincial People's Council and approved at this session of the People's Council.

This is an important legal condition for the People's Committee of Vung Tau City to submit the project investment approval dossier after the Resolution of the People's Council. The Provincial People's Committee will focus on directing Vung Tau City to submit the dossier for the province's approval as a basis for the People's Committee of Vung Tau City to organize the selection of investors according to the provisions of law.

The Provincial People's Committee also directed the Vung Tau City People's Committee to develop a plan to implement each task, organize meetings, urge and periodically evaluate the project's progress to promptly resolve difficulties and problems.

"Lessons learned show that when implementing any project, it is necessary to determine the current status and necessary conditions before making a project implementation plan to be close to reality. Clearly identify the leading unit, coordinating unit... and most of all, it is necessary to regularly check the responsibility of implementing public duties of agencies and units, avoiding the situation where documents go around in circles, wasting time and being ineffective. Finish each task" - Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh emphasized.

According to the plan approved by the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province on Social Housing Development in the area for the period 2023 - 2025, the goal is to implement 17 social housing projects, with a scale of 54.3 hectares, with an expected arrangement of about 12,798 units. However, currently many projects are behind schedule.
