Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan affirmed the historical role of the Non-Aligned Movement as a leading flag in upholding international law, strengthening multilateralism, promoting disarmament, reducing inequality in economic and financial institutions and making important contributions to solving global problems. She expressed her belief that with 120 member countries, representing nearly 60% of the world's population and accounting for about 20% of the global Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the movement will continue to be a leading voice, promoting solidarity in a divided world.
To continue promoting the role of the Non-Aligned Movement, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan emphasized that member countries need to speak with one voice to address global challenges and oppose actions that go against the principles of peace and independence.
The Vice President stressed that the movement needs to show solidarity with the Palestinian people and call for the lifting of unilateral sanctions and embargoes against Cuba and other member countries. In addition, in the spirit of solidarity in diversity, the Vice President asked the Non-Aligned Movement to respect the viewpoints and protect the interests of member countries; and called on the movement to continue to respect and support ASEAN's efforts to ensure peace, security and stability in the East Sea and Southeast Asia, and promote the settlement of disputes by peaceful means, on the basis of international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
At the same time, to maximize the cooperation potential of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Vice President said that member countries need to make better use of connection channels to enhance economic independence and autonomy and strengthen cooperation for development.
