This morning (July 11), Mr. Nguyen Van Quy - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Luu District (Nghe An) talked with VietNamNet about the incident where his younger brother Nguyen Van Trong won 23 residential land lots in Quynh Hung Commune, Quynh Luu District and the results were not recognized; and his nephew won 20 residential land lots in the same project.
“In land auctions by indirect voting, there is no favoritism. Whoever bids higher will win the auction and there can be no compromise. The vote count showed that Mr. Trong bid much higher than everyone else, so it cannot be called favoritism. There were lots that were 300-400 million VND higher and there were lots that were 600-700 million VND higher,” Mr. Quy affirmed.
According to Mr. Quy, all customers when buying documents, have researched the land and written down the amount of money to put into the indirect auction ballot box. Voting is public, when checked, the person with the higher amount will be selected.
“Many people in Quynh Hung commune are well-off. Mr. Trong’s children do business in Hanoi and have good conditions. Mr. Trong himself cannot have much. The money is entirely from Mr. Trong’s children, as VietNamNet has reported,” Mr. Quy shared.
The Vice Chairman of Quynh Luu district also said that recently, the whole district organized land auctions in 5 different communes, including: Quynh Lam, Son Hai, Quynh Giang, Quynh Thuan and Quynh Hung communes.
In Quynh Giang alone, there are 85 plots of land, 9 plots were sold in the first phase and 10 plots in the second phase. In Quynh Thuan commune, 3 plots were sold and in other communes, it is very difficult to sell.
"I reaffirm that I do not favor anyone. It is clear that the amount spent is much higher than the starting price. If we favor, we must give low price," Mr. Quy emphasized.
When reporters raised the issue of public concern about Mr. Trong and his son winning 43/56 plots of land, Mr. Quy shared: "In terms of land auctions, there is no control over buyers, but when it comes to land allocation and valuation, there is control. Therefore, real estate people buy large plots of land, then they resell them," he said.
As reported, on June 20, Quang Cong Minh Joint Stock Auction Company organized a public land auction in Quynh Hung commune (Quynh Luu district, Nghe An), including 56 land lots in Dong Quan area, hamlet 5. The total starting value was nearly 60 billion VND.
After the auction ended, the value of 56 residential plots exceeded 85 billion VND.
Notably, out of the total 56 successfully auctioned land lots, Mr. Nguyen Van Trong (residing in Quynh Hung commune - currently the accountant of Quynh Ba commune, Quynh Luu district) won 23 land lots with a total value of up to 30 billion VND.
According to research, Mr. Nguyen Van Trong is the younger brother of Mr. Nguyen Van Quy, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district (Nghe An), the person who signed the price approval of the 56 land lots mentioned above.
The case is being further investigated by Nghe An provincial authorities.
