Mock “Children's Parliament” session

(BLC) - On the morning of August 11, the Provincial Children's Council held its 8th meeting with the theme: "Children's National Assembly" mock meeting. The meeting was held under the support and guidance of the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee, the Office of the National Assembly Delegation - Provincial People's Council and Plan International Lai Chau region.

Participating in the mock session were representatives of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, the Office of the National Assembly Delegation - Provincial People's Council, the Provincial Youth Union and 40 members of the Provincial Children's Council.

At the meeting, a summary report was given on the results of collecting opinions from children in the province on two main contents (Protecting children to interact healthily and creatively on the Internet; Preventing accidents, injuries, violence, and child abuse). Representatives of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation provided general information about the National Assembly, its organization and operation; the role and tasks of National Assembly deputies; listening, synthesizing, and presenting skills; and some information and issues on children that are of interest to the National Assembly and the province.

The discussion session was lively with many opinions from members of the Provincial Children's Council representing the voices of children in the places where they study and live and expressing their own views on the main contents of the meeting.

The mock session was held to contribute to the effective implementation of the 2016 Law on Children; in particular, the provisions in Point a, Clause 2, Article 77 "Organizing for children to meet with National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies"; Clause 4, Article 79 "National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels are responsible for regularly and periodically meeting with children or children's representatives".

Promote children's right to participate in issues related to children in accordance with their psychology and abilities. Create conditions for children to develop their capacity and skills to present their opinions, views, perceptions and participate in the decision-making process on issues related to children. Through activities that help children experience and learn about the highest State power apparatus, the National Assembly.

Continue to affirm the attention of the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, the National Assembly Delegation, the People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, departments, branches, and organizations to the work of protecting, caring for, and educating children. Promote the role of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union as an organization representing the voice and aspirations of children.

Speaking at the meeting, representatives of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, the Office of the National Assembly Delegation - Provincial People's Council, and the Provincial Youth Union contributed many ideas to improve the quality of the meeting, answering questions raised by members of the Provincial Children's Council during the discussion session.

The mock session of the "Children's National Assembly" was held to prepare the content for the first national mock session of the "Children's National Assembly" in 2023, which will be held by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Hanoi next September.
