Promoting the role of the Red Cross in social security work

BHG - Recognizing that humanitarian and charitable work is one of the meaningful activities, contributing to supporting and helping families with preferential policies and people in difficult circumstances to improve their lives, the Provincial Red Cross Society (RCS) has been actively contributing to humanitarian and charitable work, contributing to improving the quality of life for local people. Typically, the Association at all levels has well implemented the campaigns "Each organization, each individual is associated with a humanitarian address", "Tet for the poor" ... to arouse the spirit of solidarity, love and mutual support of all classes of people. The family of Mr. Vi Van Khu in Ban Lau village, Kim Linh commune, Vi Xuyen district is a household in difficult circumstances. In order to support the family to reduce difficulties in life, the Provincial RCS has donated 20 million VND to buy native black chickens. This is a practical help, demonstrating the spirit of mutual love and support for the less fortunate in the community.

The Provincial Red Cross Society gave money to support the purchase of breeding animals to Mr. Vi Van Khu's household, Ban Lau village, Kim Linh commune (Vi Xuyen).

In 2024, the Association mobilized resources to build 35 houses, worth over 2.7 billion VND. Implemented the campaign "Each organization, each individual is associated with a humanitarian address" to support 65 addresses worth over 1.7 billion VND. The "Cow Bank" model and livelihood model aim to help people develop a sustainable economy. The program does not give cash but supports cows to reproduce so that people have the opportunity to escape poverty through their own labor. The Association has donated 129 cows, buffaloes, and goats to 109 poor households, worth nearly 1.9 billion VND in total. This model not only helps people have a stable source of income but also creates a foundation for long-term development of households in the highlands. In addition, the Association also focused on actively, quickly, promptly and effectively implementing the work of participating in disaster prevention and response, supporting the right subjects, mobilizing support sources inside and outside the province for over 7.7 billion VND. Along with caring for and encouraging the spirit of disadvantaged groups in society, the Red Cross Association at all levels also focused on caring for and improving the health of people, especially those in difficult circumstances. Organizing 3 activities of health check-ups, providing free medicine, and giving gifts to support the poor in difficult circumstances in Vi Xuyen, Bac Me and Xin Man districts, for over 1,500 people; coordinating with the Provincial General Hospital to provide free porridge to 4,500 poor patients in difficult circumstances.

In addition, community-based health care and voluntary blood donation are always focused on. The Association always pays attention to praising and widely promoting to the people typical collectives and individuals in the voluntary blood donation movement, creating a ripple effect to all classes of people participating in voluntary blood donation, contributing to increasing the amount of blood supplied to hospitals for emergency and treatment of patients. In 2024, the Association received 6,804/6,000 units of blood, reaching 113.4% of the assigned plan. One of the typical individuals in the humanitarian blood donation movement is teacher Bui Thi Nhai, teacher at Yen Minh Primary School (Yen Minh). Over the past 10 years, Ms. Nhai has donated blood more than 10 times, making an important contribution to saving the lives of many patients in need of emergency blood. Not only directly donating blood, she also actively mobilizes colleagues and students to participate in voluntary blood donation, helping the movement to spread more and more. Ms. Nhai shared: “Every time I donate blood, it is an opportunity to help the sick. I hope that many people will join hands to bring life to the patients who are waiting for every precious drop of blood.”

With many practical and meaningful humanitarian assistance activities, the Red Cross Association at all levels has contributed to promoting the socialization of humanitarian activities and taking care of social security in the province, thereby improving the quality of material and spiritual life for poor households and disadvantaged people, encouraging them to rise up in life. In the coming time, the Association will continue to innovate its activities in the direction of promoting socialization, promoting its core role and bridge in humanitarian charity activities.
