24 forms of fraud occurring in Vietnamese cyberspace
As one of the two main partners of the program, Mr. Nguyen Phu Luong, Deputy Director of the National Cyber Security Monitoring Center (NCSC), Department of Information Security said: “Social networks are fertile ground for cybercriminals to commit fraud, because just one minute of subjectivity, negligence and lack of knowledge, people can fall into traps at any time. With the "Scam Identification" campaign in collaboration with Meta, we aim to equip all digital citizens with the ability to self-identify scam traps, improving their self-protection skills in cyberspace."
Raising public awareness of online fraud is one of the top priorities of the Information Security Department. When every citizen and every vulnerable group knows how to identify and be more vigilant against fraud, it will help reduce online fraud to some extent in the future.”
“The safety and security of our users on our platforms is our top priority. Therefore, we are committed to preventing fraudulent activities that affect the user experience, as well as increasing awareness of these activities. In 2023, we launched the first phase of our Vietnam-specific Fraud Detection campaign, reaching millions of users and attracting hundreds of thousands of visits to Meta’s Digital Mindset Online Safety Portal. This year’s collaboration with the Department of Information Security aims to continue to improve the skills of Vietnamese people in identifying and dealing with online fraud. We want all users to proactively equip themselves with knowledge about the importance of being vigilant against online scams,” said Mr. Ruici Tio, Head of Safety Policy Program, Asia Pacific, Meta Group.
