On May 26, the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province issued a decision to administratively fine Ms. NTX (54 years old, teacher at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Secondary School) VND 3.75 million for the act of physically abusing a student.

In addition, the decision of the Buon Ma Thuot City government requires Ms. X. to publicly apologize to the student who was slapped, except in cases where the student or parent requests not to make a public apology.

The mother of the student who was slapped said that she personally did not ask the teacher to apologize but requested that the school and the education sector take strict action against the teacher.

According to the parents, teacher X. often beat her child, starting in 6th grade. This parent and many other parents have complained about this issue to the school leadership.

Regarding the student's use of documents during the test, the parents confirmed that their child was at fault. "He was at fault and should be dealt with according to regulations such as suspension from the test. Even if he did poorly, the school could let him repeat the course. The reason I filed a complaint was not only because the teacher slapped my child twice during the test, but her violent behavior had been ongoing for many years of schooling," said Ms. Tr., the mother of the student who was slapped.

According to the mother of the student who was slapped, the male student was very afraid of the teacher and showed signs of psychological "crisis" after being beaten on May 9.

A leader of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Secondary School said that after Ms. X. completed paying the administrative fine, the school will consider reporting to the Department of Education and Training about many violations committed by the female teacher during her work, to handle according to regulations.

As reported, on May 9, Ms. X. was assigned to be a supervisor during an 8th grade geography test at Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Secondary School.

Discovering a male student showing signs of using a cheat sheet, teacher X. approached and slapped the student twice in the face.

Knowing the information about the incident, the parents went to the school to ask for clarification. Initially working with the school board, Ms. X. did not admit to hitting the student and only admitted to the act when the classroom camera was extracted.

The school announced that the male student who used documents during the test would have his conduct grade lowered and his test score deducted.

The school leadership confirmed that many parents had reported that teacher X. had beaten their children. However, after the school's efforts, the parents ignored it and did not expect the violence to recur.
