In the 2023-2024 school year, Tan Binh District is one of three localities in Ho Chi Minh City (along with District 8 and Thu Duc City) piloting the implementation of primary school enrollment using digital administrative maps - GIS in zoning. Accordingly, the zoning of students to each school may not be based on the administrative area of the ward or commune and arranged so that students study at the school closest to their home as possible.
Mr. Tran Khac Huy, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Tan Binh District, said that based on the student's residence information, the district's admissions council will apply GIS maps to select the school closest to the student's residence. From there, students in the same ward can study at many schools located in other wards in their area. Unlike before, almost all students in a ward will study at schools located in that ward.
