On the evening of January 14, Ha Giang Provincial Police announced that the Criminal Police Department (PC02) of Ha Giang Provincial Police had successfully dismantled a gambling ring in the form of buying and selling inter-provincial lottery numbers with a total transaction amount of more than 180 billion VND.
The suspects in the case
This is the result of the Ha Giang Provincial Police's implementation of the peak of attacking and suppressing crime, ensuring security and order during the 2024 Lunar New Year.
Previously, at around 6:30 p.m. on January 12, PC02 of Ha Giang Provincial Police coordinated with related professional units to catch Vu Thi Phuong (48 years old, residing in Viet Quang Town, Bac Quang District, Ha Giang) red-handed for organizing gambling.
Through the investigation and collected data, PC02 of Ha Giang Provincial Police summoned 13 more people with related behaviors, mainly residing in Viet Quang Town, Coc Bai Town (Xi Man District, Ha Giang) and Xuan Dinh Ward (Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi) and clarified that this group had the behavior of buying and selling inter-provincial lottery numbers on a large scale.
Initially, PC02 of Ha Giang Provincial Police determined that this inter-provincial lottery line had been operating since the beginning of January 2023; the transaction amount of this line each day was up to more than 500 million VND and the total transaction amount when arrested was up to more than 180 billion VND.
PC02 Ha Giang Provincial Police are expanding the investigation of the case.
