Two containers of Black Cat soy sauce, one of the long-standing Vietnamese brands, have just been officially exported and sold in 37 states in the US.
Mr. Ho Diep Anh Khoi, CEO of Nam Duong International Food Company Limited, said that after being inspected and approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the company was officially allowed to export Vietnamese branded products including soy sauce, chili sauce and garlic sauce.
The products are sold in 37 states in the US. Of these, 80% are in Vietnamese supermarkets, 20% are in Korean, Taiwanese, and Thai markets. The company will also seek to penetrate US supermarket channels such as Walmart or Amazon.
According to Ms. Vu Kim Hanh, Chairwoman of the Association of High-Quality Vietnamese Goods Enterprises, many Vietnamese spices are exported to the US but the labels do not carry Vietnamese brands or are small, retail hand-carried goods. Nam Duong soy sauce being officially exported to this market is an optimistic signal for Vietnamese spices in this market.
The global spice market is worth about $56.67 billion. In the US, there are 1.3 million Vietnamese people, so according to Ms. Hanh, the market still has a lot of potential. In addition to Vietnamese customers, the world's consumer trend is favoring products of plant origin. If we focus on quality and produce according to taste, she believes that Vietnamese spices will increase their position.
It is forecasted that by 2025, the export turnover of Vietnamese spices to the world could reach 1.8 billion USD.
Nam Duong soy sauce, also known as Con Meo Den, was born in 1951 in Saigon. The factory is located at Binh Dong wharf. In addition to the US, the product will be officially exported to Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.
