Explosive sprint, Hoan Tat 'opens' victory for Vietnam

On the competition day of October 21, the Vietnamese 3-cushion carom billiards team had 4 players on the field in the second qualifying round - World Cup Veghel 2024 taking place in the Netherlands, including: Nguyen Hoan Tat, Thon Viet Hoang Minh, Le Thanh Tien and Nguyen Chi Long. Of which, Nguyen Hoan Tat (in group A) was the first player to play on the afternoon of October 21, facing Aygun Cin (Germany).

The Vietnamese player started the game quite well and created a relatively large gap with his opponent in the first half of the match. On the other hand, Aygun Cin seemed to have not caught up with the game and had a very low scoring efficiency. After the first 5 rounds, Hoan Tat led 7-0. The score was 10-2, with the advantage leaning towards Hoan Tat after the match had passed 10 rounds.

In the 12th cue, Nguyen Hoan Tat brought the match into halftime with a 15-7 lead. It seemed that the Vietnamese player would have an easy victory in the opening match, but the game suddenly became more tense with the breakthrough of Aygun Cin.

Hoan Tat slowed down, allowing the German player to narrow the gap to just 3 points (16-19) after 19 turns. Sensing the danger posed by his opponent, Nguyen Hoan Tat had an explosive sprint when he scored 3 points in the 20th turn, then had a series of 7 points in the 21st turn to re-establish a large gap over Aygun Cin.

After 22 rounds, Nguyen Hoan Tat won 30-18 against the German player. This is also the first victory of the 3-cushion carom billiards team at the Veghel 2024 World Cup.

In the second qualifying round, 48 players are divided into 16 groups (3 players each), playing a round-robin to calculate ranking points. Each match is worth 30 points, with the same number of cues. The top players in each group will qualify for the third qualifying round of the Veghel World Cup 2024.

With the victory in the opening match, Nguyen Hoan Tat has a bright chance to continue to the third qualifying round of the Veghel 3-cushion billiards World Cup 2024. Hoan Tat's next opponent in Group A is the home player from the Netherlands - Reggy Brouwers (Netherlands).
