On the evening of April 6, the final match of the 2025 Women's National Cup was the competition between Thai Nguyen T&T and the team with the top achievements in Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club.
Facing coach Kim Chi and her team, coach Van Thi Thanh's team entered the match proactively, attacking their opponents from the start when the opponents no longer had any overseas Vietnamese strikers.
However, the HCMC Women's Club quickly responded with an overwhelming game, especially dangerous with Huynh Nhu's kicks. Right from the first free kick, the most successful female striker in Vietnamese football forced goalkeeper Kim Thanh to show off her talent to save the goal.
The match then became balanced, with both teams exchanging blows in dramatic fashion. Huynh Nhu was the focal point of the attack, helping the HCM City Women's Club continuously disrupt the Thai Nguyen T&T defense, while young strikers like Ngoc Minh Chuyen missed many clear opportunities for the "tea land team" when facing goalkeeper Quach Thu Em.
Huynh Nhu opened the score for Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club
The turning point came in the 36th minute, when the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club had the most dangerous attack of the first half, hitting the crossbar twice, causing a Thai Nguyen player to let the ball touch his hand and giving Coach Kim Chi's team a penalty.
Specifically, after a fierce fight, K'Thua opened the situation with a determined long-range shot, Thuy Trang quickly rushed in to shoot the rebound but both hit the crossbar. However, the effort with the second rebound shot of the HCMC Women's Club caused Tran Thi Thu to use her hand to block in the penalty area, receiving a yellow card and the home team receiving a penalty.
On the penalty spot, Huynh Nhu easily defeated Kim Thanh, raising the total number of goals in the tournament to 3, equaling the scoring record with Bich Thuy in the race for the Golden Boot.
In the second half, Thai Nguyen T&T Club tried their best to bring the match back to the starting line. However, Bich Thuy and Minh Chuyen continuously had opportunities to defeat goalkeeper Quach Thu Em. In the 70th minute of the match, the deadlock was clearly shown through Bich Thuy's punch to the ground.
Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club maintained the score against Thai Nguyen T&T and won the championship.
Even in some final moments of the match, Kim Thanh had to show off her talent in defending the net when Huynh Nhu and her teammates counterattacked. On the contrary, Thai Nguyen T&T showed more deadlock and Kim Thanh had to support the attack in the last minute.
After 7 seasons since 2019, Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club continues to affirm its position as the most successful team in the Women's National Cup with 4 times, surpassing opponents such as Phong Phu Ha Nam or Than KSVN. In which, Than KSVN with 2 consecutive championships (2023-2024).
Thus, Coach Kim Chi and her students once again affirmed their number 1 position as the team with the most titles in both the National Cup and the Vietnam Women's National Championship.
