From gifted student to excellent graduate
Four years ago, Le Thi Bich Dao was an outstanding face of Thang Long High School for the Gifted (Lam Dong) when she won second prize in the provincial Physics competition and was a contestant in the national competition for excellent students.
In 2021, when enrolling at Saigon International University, Dao received a 100% scholarship for full tuition and living expenses for 4 years of university study.
She chose Foreign Economics because she likes to follow international news and learn about the relationships between countries and trade between countries. On the other hand, according to Dao, this major suits her interests of communicating and working with people from many different cultures. She believes that choosing the right career will make the work process easier.
Believing that youth is a precious time to learn and experience, Dao set a goal of graduating ahead of schedule as soon as she entered university.
To do this, she had to learn a large amount of knowledge much faster than her classmates.
Sharing her study methods, Dao said that she always tries to make a clear plan for each semester. Attending classes regularly and self-studying are two key factors to achieve high results. In addition, she has to master the knowledge, focus on lectures in class as well as review for exams.
However, pushing her learning progress early was also a pressure for Dao. From the worry of not being able to keep up with the program and the tight schedule, Dao turned the pressure into motivation to push herself to try harder every day.
For difficult subjects, she applies active learning methods by actively participating in group discussions and learning more resources outside of the textbook.
"An indispensable part of my learning method is self-assessment and self-feedback. After each exam or test, I take time to review what I have done well and what I have not done well, and from there adjust my learning method accordingly," Dao said.
When stressed, Dao turns to music or goes out with friends to relieve pressure and regain energy for studying.
Dream of starting my own company
In addition to studying, Bich Dao actively participates in extracurricular activities at school, participating in cooking and baking competitions and club activities.
Dao is also jokingly called "the ambitious woman" by her friends because she diligently participates in academic competitions. During her time at school, she has won awards such as: Encouragement prize in the final round of the student competition with startup ideas; First prize in the school-level student scientific research competition; First prize in the school-level round of the Vietnam Logistics Young Talent Search Competition...
According to Dao, studying at university is like running a marathon, there will be times when you feel discouraged or tired. However, perseverance and constant effort will lead students to success.
Before graduating from university, Dao found a job at a large company related to import-export activities, as she had originally planned. In the future, this young woman said she will continue to learn and improve her knowledge and skills to achieve her dream of establishing her own company.
