Video: Contrasting scenes on both banks of the Saigon River
The two banks of the Saigon River are contrasting images. One side is a bustling modern urban area, the other side has not yet received adequate investment.
From above, the Saigon River bank area in District 1, 4, Binh Thanh, houses and riverside roads have been relatively completely formed.
The Bach Dang Wharf Park area along with the square around the statue of Saint Tran Hung Dao has just been renovated, creating a beautiful and impressive urban space. This place has attracted people to visit, sightsee and is the place to organize many festival activities of Ho Chi Minh City.
On the other bank is Thu Duc City, empty and looking quite shabby.
Along the road from Ba Son bridge to Thu Thiem tunnel is a riverside trail paved with green gravel, some sections are bumpy dirt roads.
Some places are used to gather construction materials for construction projects in Thu Thiem Urban Area.
This section of the river has no embankment, so garbage is piling up.
Seeing the city changing day by day, but the Saigon River bank is still not exploited effectively, especially the shabby image of the river bank on the Thu Thiem side, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Tu (residing in Thu Duc City) hopes that the city will soon be renovated to have a more beautiful look in the eyes of residents and tourists.
"Standing here at Bach Dang wharf park, looking across the river, it looks very shabby, full of grass and trees. I hope the city will soon renovate it so that when people come to Bach Dang wharf park to walk, they can look across the river and see a more beautiful view," Mr. Tu shared.
Recently, in the meeting to conclude the projects and plans for renovating the central area of Ho Chi Minh City, Chairman Phan Van Mai assigned Thu Duc City to coordinate with departments and branches to research and propose plans to renovate and renovate the Saigon River bank area on the Thu Duc City side to match the landscape of Bach Dang wharf park.
Specifically, the riverbank section from Ba Son Bridge to the roof of Thu Thiem Tunnel (about 830m long) will be cleaned, creating an open space of about 50m wide towards the shore. Floating rafts for growing aquatic plants will be installed at alluvial and semi-flooded areas. The section in front of the church to the roof of Thu Thiem Tunnel, 200m long, is calculated to utilize construction barriers combined with planting bamboo, creating a green wall along the riverbank.
The area in front of Thu Thiem Church is expected to be equipped with LED screens for cheering, propaganda, and creating light at night.
At the same time, on the roof of Thu Thiem tunnel, there will also be some decorative works such as: vertical swing, pedestrian bridge, landscape arch frame...
