Efforts to build new rural areas in the mountainous district of Na Hang

Na Hang is a mountainous district of Tuyen Quang province, consisting of 11 communes, one town and 12 ethnic groups living together. Of which, the Tay ethnic group accounts for 52.56%, Dao 27.64%, Kinh 9.44%, the rest are other ethnic groups. When starting to build a new rural area in 2011, the district had a very low starting point. Overcoming difficulties, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in the district have had appropriate methods, gradually building rural infrastructure, focusing on implementing new rural criteria.

Identifying new rural construction as a long-term, important and continuous task, the District Party Committee has developed a roadmap and plan, setting out specific tasks for each stage; established a working group to help the District Party Committee Standing Committee directly direct the communes, focusing on key communes; and effectively mobilized resources in new rural construction.

Propaganda work is considered the most important solution in building new rural areas in Na Hang. Every week and every month, the new rural construction steering committee of the communes reports the progress every 10 days to the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee for timely guidance.

Along with propaganda for members, the union at all levels has launched many emulation movements such as: "Youth join hands to build new countryside"; building the model "5 no, 5 clean", "Happy family" club...

Through propaganda and emulation movements, people have become aware of their obligations and roles as subjects in building new rural areas, thereby actively contributing working days, money and materials. The whole district has had many examples of voluntary land donation for cultural houses and rural roads such as: Mr. Hoang Van Tuan, Na Chang village, Nang Kha commune donated more than 538 m2 for roads; Mr. Nong Van Huan, Khau Tinh village, Khau Tinh commune donated 300 m2 of land for roads; Mr. Hoang Van Thong, Khuoi Phay village, Hong Thai commune donated 600 m2 of land for the village cultural house... Along with that, people contributed more than 31 billion VND and tens of thousands of working days to build infrastructure works.

With the motto "easy to do first, difficult to do later", Na Hang is gradually implementing the new rural criteria with the spirit of constantly striving, overcoming difficulties and rising up. By December 2024, the whole district has five communes recognized as meeting the standards of new rural communes (Nang Kha, Con Lon, Hong Thai, Thanh Tuong, Khau Tinh), Da Vi commune basically meets 19/19 criteria of new rural communes, the remaining communes meet 9-10 criteria/commune.

Na Hang is also the locality with the largest area of specialty tea in the province with more than 1,290 hectares of specialty tea, of which Shan Tuyet tea has a planting area of 1,260 hectares, Kim Tuyen tea, Phuc Van Tien tea 30 hectares according to VietGAP standards. Currently, the income from tea cultivation of the people reaches an average of 26 million VND/ha.

With the advantage of more than 8,000 hectares of lake area, Na Hang develops its aquaculture strengths. The whole district has 98 households raising fish in cages with 889 cages, the estimated output is 648.1 tons with a total value of 32 billion VND, creating jobs for more than 1,300 people... Cage fish farming is most concentrated in Da Vi, Yen Hoa communes and Na Hang town, and has been contributing significantly to increasing the income of local people.

Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee Nguyen Trong Doan said: To continue effectively implementing the work of building new rural areas, the district focuses on directing agencies, units, and People's Committees of communes to review and adjust the workload and budget to be implemented, proactively integrating project programs to ensure effective implementation of the plan to implement the National Target Program on building new rural areas for the period 2021-2025.
