According to VGC , a source from Brazilian journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe has revealed that the Nintendo Switch 2, the successor to the popular Nintendo Switch console, is likely to launch later than expected, with the current release date possibly being in the first quarter of 2025.
This information was shared by Lippe in a new video on the OX do Controle channel, based on information gathered from five separate sources. The sources said that they are developing the game aiming for Q1 2025 to launch alongside the new console, instead of the original target of late 2024.
Nintendo Switch 2 likely delayed to 2025
Gaming site Eurogamer has also confirmed that the Switch 2 will launch in Q1 2025. "The console launch will take place early next year - but still within the next financial year - to ensure that the Switch 2 launch lineup includes as many titles as possible," Eurogamer said.
Bloomberg also confirmed the news through its own sources. "Nintendo is telling game publishers that its next-generation console will be delayed until the early months of 2025, according to people familiar with the company," Bloomberg said. "Nintendo has told some executives not to expect the device to ship before March 2025."
After news of the delay spread throughout the gaming industry, VGC has received information from multiple sources that Nintendo has informed game publishers that their new console will launch in Q1 2025.
According to sources, third-party companies have recently been informed of an internal delay in the launch of Nintendo's new Switch console, from late 2024 to early next year. The delay is said to be aimed at helping Nintendo prepare the richest possible amount of exclusive software.
Multiple sources predict that the Nintendo Switch 2 will likely follow a similar timeline as its predecessor, meaning it will be released around March.
