Ninh Phuoc promotes OCOP program

The OCOP product evaluation council of Ninh Phuoc district (Ninh Thuan) awarded OCOP product certificates to entities in 2024.

Vice Chairman of Ninh Phuoc District People's Committee Dang Nang Tom said: The district has focused on mobilizing farmers to shift crop structure towards improving quality and efficiency, associated with the production of key products; encouraging the development of production organization forms in cooperatives, enterprises, and households producing agricultural, non-agricultural and service products according to the value chain with local advantages. At the same time, the district promptly implements support policies, enhances capacity for subjects participating in the OCOP program; regularly promotes propaganda, raises awareness for subjects about the purpose and meaning of the program. Thereby, subjects see the benefits and effectiveness of developing OCOP products and actively participate.

Visiting the rice paper production facility of Nguyen Thi Bich Phuong, Phuoc Son commune. Ms. Phuong shared: In 2024, with the support of specialized agencies and consulting units to implement criteria and design models, I invested in machinery to process rice paper products and participated in the OCOP program, and was awarded three stars by the District Product Evaluation Council. With the benefits, I am planning to enhance the brand value of rice paper products and other rice paper products. This is an opportunity to promote products and reach customers in the near future.

In 2023, to successfully build an agricultural product value chain and promote local strengths, Phuoc Vinh 59 Cooperative has introduced dried apples, fresh apples, and fresh asparagus into OCOP products and has been recognized with three stars by the District OCOP Council.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Phan, Director of Phuoc Vinh 59 Cooperative, said: The fact that the product is rated as a three-star OCOP by the district level has practical significance for businesses in affirming the value of the product, motivating the cooperative to boost production, promote the brand, expand the consumption market, and help customers have more access to the product. After being recognized, the cooperative continues to invest in developing OCOP-standard products to meet the increasing needs of customers. At the same time, it actively encourages members to build growing area codes to access production processes in the direction of VietGAP, ensuring clean and safe raw materials according to OCOP criteria, aiming to bring products with local characteristics to consumers.

Currently, Ninh Phuoc has 46 OCOP products recognized. Of these, 31 products are recognized as three-star OCOP products and one product is recognized as four-star (2022-2024); 14 products that meet OCOP standards (2020-2021) have expired, and the locality is mobilizing participants to re-register the recognized products.

Vice Chairman of Ninh Phuoc District People's Committee Dang Nang Tom commented: The development of the OCOP program in the district has helped entities change production organization methods, improve product quality, expand scale, diversify promotion channels to expand the market, create opportunities for local people to participate in the production chain, and increase the value of key products.

In the coming time, the district will focus on consolidating and supporting innovation in the operation methods of cooperatives, enterprises, and households by promoting the transfer of scientific and technological applications, preliminary processing, preservation, and processing of agricultural products, etc. to the subjects.

Along with that, upgrading recognized OCOP products to affirm the quality, value and brand of the products. Mobilizing, integrating and effectively using resources to implement the program, especially investing in technical infrastructure serving agricultural production; promptly implementing policies to support the OCOP program for entities, such as: Supporting points for introducing, promoting and selling OCOP products; building product introduction pages, online sales; designing packaging, product labels, registering codes, barcodes, electronic stamps for traceability, applying traceability systems; participating in fairs and exhibitions inside and outside the province... to promote rural agricultural economy, enhance value, promote the strengths of OCOP products of the district.
