On the morning of June 13, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and worked with the Vietnam Journalists Association on the occasion of the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2023).
Speaking at the meeting, the Prime Minister stated that throughout history, the press and media have always accompanied the country, making great contributions to the cause of national liberation and unification. Many journalists and reporters have not been afraid of danger and hardship, and have been present on all fronts to convey information. Many have heroically sacrificed, leaving in each of us a symbol of responsibility and love for the homeland and country.

" The press is a propaganda tool on the ideological and cultural front of the Party, an essential means of information, and an indispensable spiritual food for social life and for the people. In particular, the Vietnam Journalists Association plays an important role in uniting, gathering, improving political capacity, fostering professional skills, and training professional ethics of journalists, contributing to creating unity within the Party and consensus in society, " the Prime Minister emphasized.
Mentioning the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and international disputes that have created negative impacts, revealing a number of shortcomings related to the bond, stock, and real estate markets, etc. affecting our country's economy and people's psychology, the Prime Minister stated that the press plays an important role in creating consensus, sharing, and empathy among the people.
Accordingly, a number of issues related to inadequacies in the management of gasoline, electricity, credit, interest rates, medicine, equipment, medical supplies, etc. were reflected by the press in an objective, multi-dimensional, and constructive manner so that the Government and the Prime Minister could have more information and adjust appropriate policies.
At the same time, the press also reflects the achievements and efforts of the entire Party, people and army in a spirit of solidarity so that Vietnam can achieve bright spots in growth and economic recovery after the pandemic; people have faith in the Party and State's fight against corruption and negativity. The press is a pioneer in reflecting new policies, policy shortcomings, discovering new models, good experiences, and typical examples in social life.
" The major policies and guidelines of the Party and State come into life and reflect the reality of life thanks to the press ," the Prime Minister affirmed.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the press contributes to promoting human values, compassion, altruism, spiritual life, goals, ideals, ambitions, and dreams. Many articles are touching, full of humanity, touching hearts, creating empathy and sharing from the community, bringing faith, motivation, material and spiritual support to those with difficult lives and unfortunate fates, helping them confidently rise up in life, making society better and better.
In addition to the achievements, the head of the Government pointed out the shortcomings, limitations, difficulties and challenges that the Journalists Association at all levels, press and media agencies and journalists across the country are facing, especially the decline in revenue and income, and fierce competition with cross-border platforms and social networks.

In order for the Vietnamese press to be truly revolutionary, professional, humane, and modern, in the coming time, the Prime Minister suggested promoting the activities of gathering forces, building a team of journalists, focusing on fostering political and ideological qualities, training mettle, improving capacity and professional qualifications for members to "serve the Fatherland", "serve the people", "serve the class and humanity" as Uncle Ho once advised.
The Prime Minister requested the Vietnam Journalists Association to create a cultural space in journalism activities, thereby helping to correct deviations in professional ethics and promote humanistic values in journalism activities. At the same time, it must protect the legitimate interests of its members in performing their duties, and strictly handle violations, especially those taking advantage of the press to go against the goals and ideals of the Party and the policies and laws of the State.
" The press needs to strengthen information analysis, promote the role of creative journalism, solution journalism. Do not avoid negative issues, but report in a constructive way, find ways to overcome and resolve them in a humane and humane way, according to the law to bring more positive emotions, beliefs, perspectives and results to the community. In addition, the press must step up the prevention and fight against corruption, negativity and waste; strictly handle violations.
The Prime Minister also noted the issue of promoting digital transformation of journalism in association with the digital economy and journalism and media economy; increasing the application of artificial intelligence, big data and new technologies in journalism and media activities. The Prime Minister requested the Vietnam Journalists Association to be more proactive in guiding the press team to strengthen policy research and actively participate in policy communication work; promote innovation in content and methods of policy communication in a proactive, timely and appropriate manner, contributing to improving the effectiveness of information and public opinion orientation.
