Agreed to bring the relationship between Vietnam and China

On the afternoon of June 4, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong received Labor Party leader and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong welcomed Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Australian high-ranking delegation on an official visit to Vietnam on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1973-2023).

The General Secretary thanked Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for his fine remarks about Vietnam and the bilateral relationship, affirming Vietnam's importance to the Vietnam-Australia relationship, and highly appreciating the strong, substantive and comprehensive development of cooperation between the two sides in recent years.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized that Vietnam and Australia are two countries in the Asia-Pacific region, with many similarities. Their relationship has gone through many periods of development over the past 50 years, expanding and deepening in political relations, economic cooperation, science, technology, education - training, defense and security. In particular, people-to-people exchanges and relations are very close with over 300,000 Vietnamese people living and working in Australia, including tens of thousands of Vietnamese students studying in Australia. On these important foundations and with great potential for cooperation, the relationship between the two countries has good prospects for development in the coming time.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong also highly appreciated the results of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s visit, especially through the Prime Minister’s talks and meetings with Vietnamese leaders and the important agreements reached between the two countries during the visit. The success of the Prime Minister’s visits this time and the recent visit of Australian Governor-General David Hurley are milestones in the relationship between the two countries.

The General Secretary expressed his agreement on the directions for developing relations, including bringing the bilateral relationship to a new height, further cooperation and improving the effectiveness of implementing agreements for the benefit of the two peoples, for peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world. The General Secretary also recalled good memories of his previous visit to Australia, of the country and people of Australia.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese respectfully thanked General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong for taking the time to receive him and his delegation, expressing his appreciation and emotion for the warm welcome of the General Secretary, leaders and people of Vietnam, realizing that this was not only a sentiment and respect for him personally but also for the country and people of Australia.

The Prime Minister affirmed Australia's respect for Vietnam's role and position, and its relationship with Vietnam. He congratulated Vietnam on its positive and great changes during his visits and expressed his joy at the impressive development achievements of the two countries' relationship, which is now a strategic partnership.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was pleased to announce the rich and in-depth exchanges with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Vietnamese leaders, the agreements reached at high levels and between ministries and sectors of the two countries, expressing his confidence in the development prospects of the relationship, and his desire to elevate the relationship between the two countries to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

The Prime Minister affirmed Australia's viewpoint on the importance of strengthening a peaceful and stable environment in the region, respecting international law, independence and sovereignty of nations, equal relations, supporting the central role of ASEAN, and the policy of the Australian Government and the traditional line of the Labor Party is to attach importance to promoting relations with Southeast Asian countries.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese respectfully invited General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to pay an official visit to Australia as a guest of the Australian Government. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong thanked and happily accepted the Prime Minister's invitation.
