Overseas Vietnamese twins shine at SEA Games

Truong Thao My and Truong Thao Vy are twin sisters who helped the Vietnamese 3x3 basketball team win the first gold medal in SEA Games history this afternoon (May 7).

Truong Thao My (Kayleigh Truong) and Truong Thao Vy (Kaylynne Truong) were both born on July 10, 2001. My is the older sister, Vy is the younger sister. The two young beauties have Vietnamese parents but were born and raised in Houston, Texas, USA.

The twins’ father is Man Truong and their mother is Katherine Nguyen. The twins also have a younger brother, Jonathan Truong. Their father, who loves basketball, is also the one who guided and guided the two sisters to start playing basketball at the age of 5.

At first, the Truong twins only played basketball for the purpose of training and improving their health. But after learning that being good at basketball could help them get scholarships from universities, they both started playing seriously from the 8th grade.

Thao My and Thao Vy currently play as defenders at Gonzaga University and only return home to play for the Vietnam national team. In April 2022, Kayleigh and Kaylynne played for the Vietnam women's basketball team for the first time under the name "VN Red and Gold", participating in the ABL 3x3 International Champions Cup (ABL ICC 2022) in Bali, Indonesia. The excellent squad won the first championship for Vietnam in this tournament.

At the 2021 Southeast Asian Games held in May 2022 in Vietnam, the pair of sisters on the 3x3 women's basketball team won the first silver medal for Vietnamese basketball at a SEA Games.

Today, Truong Thao My and Truong Thao Vy and the Vietnamese women's team faced the Philippines in the final match of the 3x3 women's basketball event at the 32nd SEA Games. Both helped their basketball team win 21-16, thereby bringing home a historic gold medal for Vietnamese basketball in the regional arena.

Kaylynne (Thao Vy) is 1.72 m tall and has nearly 37,000 followers on her personal page. The Gen Z sister always impresses with her bright smile and positive, enthusiastic spirit.
