On the morning of March 24, at the program "Glory of Vietnamese Sports", Pham Quang Huy and typical athletes and coaches of Vietnamese sports in 2023 received Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Certificates of Merit from the Vietnam Olympic Committee.
Also at the program, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung presented the Labor Medal of the President and Certificates of Merit of the Prime Minister to athletes and coaches with outstanding achievements in major international competitions in the past year.

In 2023, athletes and coaches will participate in many major regional, continental and world sporting events such as SEA Games 32, Paragames 12, ASIAD 19, Asian Para Games 4, Women's World Cup 2023.
Notably, shooter Pham Quang Huy won a gold medal at the 19th ASIAD. The Hai Phong native excelled in his specialty, the 10m air pistol, thereby ending the 40-year thirst for a gold medal for Vietnamese shooting at the major ASIAD.

Besides Pham Quang Huy, other individuals and groups receiving similar honors include Coach Tran Thi Vui (tarmigan), Hoang Thi Thai Xuan (tarmigan), Nguyen Hoang Ngan (karate), Le Tien Dat (swimming for the disabled), members of the women's tambour team and members of the Vietnamese women's kata team.

The program "Glory of Vietnamese Sports" was held at the Ba Kieu Temple flower garden and around Hoan Kiem Lake (Hanoi), with the participation of representatives of the Party, State, Government, Central Committees and Ministries; leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee, the Department of Sports and Physical Training, the Vietnam Olympic Committee, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, the National Sports Federations and Associations, outstanding athletes and coaches nationwide, businesses and media agencies.
The event is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the Sports and Physical Training sector's traditional day (March 27, 1946 - March 27, 2024) and the day Uncle Ho wrote the article "Physical Training and Health" calling on people to exercise.
The Organizing Committee also launched the Olympic Running Day for the health of all people, the 49th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Open Race. The race had the participation of 4,500 people, including 1,000 professional athletes with the support of sponsor Sabeco.
