There needs to be more coordinated communication and education on ensuring safety for students when participating in traffic.
Parents know the rules but still let their children use large displacement motorbikes
Master Huynh Thanh Phu, Principal of Bui Thi Xuan High School (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), said that there is currently a reality where high school students are not old enough to use large-displacement motorbikes but still use them to go to school. This is a problem that gives schools a "headache" because the school does not accept to keep the motorbikes, so the students leave them in the parking lots outside the school.
The principal of Bui Thi Xuan High School is concerned about the coordination between the school and parents. Mr. Phu said that although the law has specific regulations on the age of using vehicles to participate in traffic, parents are aware of this but still give their children vehicles without legal permission.
In addition, Mr. Huynh Thanh Phu also raised the issue of whether the coordination between the education sector and the police is not strict and thorough enough, so the issue of students using means of transportation in violation of regulations has not been thoroughly handled?
Therefore, Mr. Phu proposed that there needs to be more coordinated communication and education on ensuring safety for students when participating in traffic.
Many students use large displacement motorbikes to go to school.
For example, localities need to disseminate information to households; agencies, companies, and factories also need information for employees, parents, and students to grasp.
Schools regularly educate, remind and integrate into activities to help students raise awareness of traffic safety and participate in traffic according to laws and regulations.
Mr. Phu emphasized that this close and synchronous coordination will educate students about traffic safety, helping them protect themselves and their families.
The Department of Education and Training has proposed ways to increase awareness of traffic safety.
To strengthen school safety, since the beginning of September, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has deployed the necessary contents to schools from kindergarten to high school, continuing education centers...
Accordingly, educational institutions continue to review the organization of joint signing with localities according to the coordination regulations between the Department of Education and Training and the City Police to strengthen propaganda, dissemination and education of laws on traffic order and safety in educational institutions.
Educational institutions develop plans to prohibit motor vehicles from circulating and parking in school areas when students are studying, living and playing; place speed limit signs and specify areas where personal vehicles are prohibited from circulating and parking in school areas. Enhance the responsibility of security guards in managing, reminding and guiding vehicles to participate in traffic according to regulations, ensuring absolute safety for school members. Strictly handle individuals who violate traffic regulations and park vehicles in the wrong place on school grounds.
Schools need to strengthen propaganda and education on traffic safety awareness for students.
Organize propaganda and mobilize students to go to school by public transport, school shuttle buses or subsidized buses for students in the city to reduce traffic congestion during rush hours. Organize training and guide teachers and students at the unit on the process of organizing safety when transporting students by car.
Educational institutions require students to strictly comply with regulations: students must not gather to race illegally; must not use motorbikes or mopeds when underage or without a driver's license; must not ride three or four people, obstructing traffic.
Also in the process of implementing the contents on strengthening school safety, Mr. Duong Tri Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that schools should organize well the propaganda, dissemination, education of knowledge, skills on safe traffic participation and traffic safety laws for students. Coordinate with the representative board of parents, fathers, mothers, guardians to educate and remind their children to voluntarily comply with traffic safety laws, coordinate with localities to deploy plans to ensure order and traffic safety in school areas.
