In this stilt house, during the years when the US imperialists escalated their fierce attacks on the North, on July 17, 1966, Uncle Ho sat down and wrote a call for the people to resolutely fight against the US imperialists. Also here, from 1965 to 1969, Uncle Ho spent time writing his historic Will, leaving behind endless love for all the people, the whole Party, the entire army, and for the teenagers and children.
Having spent 4 years as a guard protecting Uncle Ho and more than 30 years later working on preserving and promoting Ho Chi Minh's legacy in the Presidential Palace Relic Site, Mr. Tran Viet Hoan, former Director of the Presidential Palace Relic Site at the Presidential Palace, affirmed: "The house where Uncle Ho worked for 11 years was a decisive period for the fate of the Party and the country. Uncle Ho, as President, shouldered a great responsibility. This place was not painted red and gilded, but Uncle Ho's stilt house has become a legend. Uncle Ho's stilt house only had a few rooms, but while Uncle Ho's soul was of the times, that small house was also airy and light, filled with the fragrance of flowers. Under this roof, our Uncle Ho spent many sleepless nights thinking about the Southern Revolution, thinking about the Northern Revolution and thinking about international solidarity. During his years here, Uncle Ho put forth tactical and strategic guidelines to ensure that the Vietnamese revolution would go from one victory to another."
Professor Hoang Chi Bao believes that the stilt house clearly shows his simple and austere lifestyle: "Simplicity is the most typical feature, the most representative feature of Ho Chi Minh's style. Throughout his 60 years of revolutionary activities... a faded khaki suit, rubber sandals, wooden clogs... are still kept intact."
Today, the stilt house located in the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace has become a "red address", a place where the sentiments of the Vietnamese people and peace-loving people around the world converge. General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh once said: He radiated extraordinary willpower and lived with the motto that wealth cannot seduce, poverty cannot shake, power cannot subdue, with the spirit of diligence, thrift, integrity, uprightness, impartiality and selflessness. He lived a noble and simple life. His career, thoughts and shining morality will live forever in the boundless love of the Vietnamese people".
