In the end, Nguyen Thuy Linh defeated Kaoru Sugiyama with a score of 2-0 (21-15 and 22-20). Thereby, Nguyen Thuy Linh won the women's singles championship of the Vietnam Open badminton tournament for the third consecutive time.
The championship helped Nguyen Thuy Linh receive 7,500 USD (more than 184 million VND) in prize money from the tournament's Organizing Committee, along with some bonus points, which could help her move up in the world rankings of women's singles tennis players.
