Professor Quan is a former member of the Party Central Committee, former Deputy Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission, former Minister of Universities, Vocational Secondary Schools and Vocational Training, former Minister of Education and Training, and former Chairman of the Association of Vietnamese Universities and Colleges.
Former Minister of Education and Training Tran Hong Quan passed away at the age of 86.
He was born on February 15, 1937, in My Quoi commune, Nga Nam district, Soc Trang province.
He was a member of the Party Central Committee of the 11th, 12th and 13th terms; a National Assembly delegate of the 8th and 10th terms.
He devoted his whole working life to the Vietnamese education sector.
1961-1975: Professor Tran Hong Quan taught at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
1975-1976: He was Head of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.
1976-1982: He held the position of Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.
1982-1987: He served as Deputy Minister of Universities and Vocational Secondary Education.
1987-1990: He became Minister of Higher Education and Vocational Training.
1990 - 1997: He held the position of Minister of Education and Training.
2005 - 2015: He left his job at a state management agency to become Chairman of the Association of Non-Public Universities and Colleges of Vietnam, then Chairman of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Vietnam until 2021.
2021 - present: He is Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Association of Vietnamese Universities and Colleges.
