Chicken rice poisoning in Khanh Hoa: Request to verify the cause and make the results public

The Food Safety Department said it had received information about a suspected food poisoning incident at Tram Anh Chicken Rice Restaurant on Ba Trieu Street, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province, causing many people to have symptoms of stomachache, nausea, diarrhea, and fever, and are being treated at medical facilities in the area.

Faced with the above situation, the Food Safety Department requested the Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Health to direct medical facilities in the area to focus resources on actively treating patients, and if necessary, request support for professional consultation with higher-level hospitals.

At the same time, temporarily suspend the facility suspected of causing food poisoning, organize an investigation to determine the cause of the food poisoning according to regulations; take food samples and specimens and promptly send them to the nearest designated testing unit for testing; clearly identify the cause and publicly disclose the results to promptly warn the community.

The Department also recommends strengthening propaganda and guidance for food service establishments to ensure hygiene and food safety conditions. Strictly implement the management of food ingredients' origin, three-step food inspection, food sample storage and hygiene in processing stages.

As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , Khanh Hoa Department of Health informed that as of March 14, hospitals in the area had received nearly 200 people suspected of food poisoning after eating chicken rice at Tram Anh chicken rice restaurant, No. 10 Ba Trieu, Nha Trang City.

On March 13, Tram Anh chicken rice restaurant was temporarily suspended for investigation.

Authorities have taken samples of the patient's specimens and food samples suspected of poisoning to send for testing to find the exact cause.
