Nghe An attends 'Meet Thailand 2023' Conference

Attending, on the Thai side, was Mr. Nikorndej Balankura - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to Vietnam.

On the Vietnamese side, there were representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and 14 provinces and cities in the Northern and Central regions.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrade Nguyen Van De - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Tran Khanh Thuc - Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and representatives of the leaders of the departments and branches: Industry and Trade, Planning and Investment, Tourism, Management Board of the Southeast Economic Zone and the Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion.

The “Meet Thailand” conference took place on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of upgrading relations to a strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand.

Over the years, the cooperation between the two countries has achieved remarkable results, in which cooperation in economic development is the highlight. Many localities in Vietnam and Thailand have become important partners of each other.

At the discussion session "East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC): Promoting cooperation and supply chain integration", on behalf of the leaders of Nghe An province, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De gave a speech with the topic: "Promoting supply chain integration: Role, significance and implementation measures at the local level".

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De emphasized: In recent times, Nghe An province has promoted international economic integration activities, including integration and connection according to the value chain. Total import and export turnover in 2022 reached 3.39 billion USD, of which goods export turnover reached 2.19 billion USD, up 3.6% compared to 2021, exceeding 9.44% of the annual plan with the participation of 360 enterprises exporting to 133 countries and territories (in particular, for the Thai market, in the first 6 months of 2023, Nghe An's import and export turnover reached more than 30 million USD, up 15% over the same period.

Main export items include: All kinds of packaging, seafood products, wood pellets, processed fruits and fruit juices, etc. Main import items include: paper products, canned fish cans, gasoline, plastic beads, etc.

Leaders, authorities and departments, branches and localities of Nghe An province always accompany businesses; organize for businesses to participate in trade promotion programs, fairs, seminars, supply and demand connections... to access global supply chains to consolidate their position, ensure sustainable development and improve business efficiency; support businesses in the province to access global supply chains to consolidate their position, ensure sustainable development and improve business efficiency; support businesses to implement cooperation within the framework of the Association of 9 provinces, 3 countries Vietnam - Laos - Thailand using Highway 8 and Highway 12...

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De also proposed that the Governments of the two countries create favorable conditions for Nghe An province to establish sister provinces with Thai provinces to promote trade and investment between the two sides; Establish regular information channels to support enterprises of Nghe An province and Thai provinces to connect and find partners; Support connections so that Thai enterprises can continue to receive and introduce products of Nghe An province, especially agricultural, forestry and fishery products, OCOP products to participate in the value chains of Thai enterprises in the Vietnamese and Thai markets.

Nghe An province will continue to promote administrative procedure reform, improve the investment environment, and support Thai investors in Nghe An, especially investment in the province's industrial parks, including the WHA industrial park implemented by Thai investors.
