Nghe An attends the Summit of 9 provinces of 3 countries Vietnam - Laos - Thailand

The conference was attended by delegations from the provinces of Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh (Vietnam), Bolikhamxay and Kham Muon (Laos), Nakhon Phanom, Noong Khai and Bung Can (Thailand). The delegation of Nghe An province was led by Mr. Tran Khanh Thuc - Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, along with leaders of the Departments of Planning and Investment, Transport and Home Affairs.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Na-ta-wat wi-ri-ya-na-pha-phon - Governor of Sakon Nakhon province was very pleased to welcome the delegation of the provinces to attend the Conference and highly appreciated the cooperation in various fields between the 9 provinces in the past time, and at the same time requested the delegates of the provinces to have specific proposals to increase the effectiveness of cooperation in the coming time.

At the conference, Mr. Ni-phon Ni-dom - Chief of Office of Sakon Nakhon Province reported the results of cooperation between 9 provinces in implementing the contents of the Minutes of the 22nd Summit held in Ha Tinh Province in September 2019. Basically, the provinces have coordinated to implement and achieved good results in the contents of the Minutes of the 22nd Summit in the fields of education, health, agriculture, trade, investment, tourism, science and technology transfer, art and sports exchange.

Speaking at the conference, Head of the delegation of Nghe An province Tran Khanh Thuc shared some of the cooperation results of Nghe An province with other provinces in recent times. Nghe An province currently has 16 FDI foreign direct investment projects from Thailand granted Certificates in Nghe An province with a total registered investment capital of 265.27 million USD, including: 06 seafood processing, food and beverage processing projects; 02 mineral exploitation and processing projects; 04 trade and service projects, 01 footwear production project and 03 industrial park infrastructure investment and business projects. Some Nghe An enterprises have business cooperation activities in Laos in the following fields of cooperation: mineral exploitation, hydropower, wood processing and trading, construction steel trading, fuel, forest planting and exploitation, tourism, small truck trading, agricultural and aquatic products trading, consumer goods, information and communication...

Nghe An province promotes cooperation with tourism businesses in the provinces of Khammouane, Bolikhamxay of Laos; Noong Khai, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Bung Can of Thailand to exploit the tourist route from Nghe An to Cau Treo/Cha Lo border gate to the above provinces and vice versa along route 8 and route 12.

Nghe An province wishes to improve the effectiveness of cooperation between the 9 provinces in the coming time, creating the best conditions to promote business cooperation; requesting the delegation of Bolikhamxay province to report to the Bolikhamxay Provincial Government Committee to propose the Lao Government to soon announce Nam On border gate as the main border gate, creating favorable conditions to promote import-export and immigration activities.

On the same day, the delegations of 9 provinces of 3 countries Vietnam - Laos - Thailand using Highway 8 and Highway 12 approved and signed the Conference Minutes.

The cooperation between 9 provinces of 3 countries Vietnam - Laos - Thailand using Highway 8 and Highway 12 in recent times has contributed to enhancing the friendly relationship between the 3 countries, promoting the socio-economic development of each province, of the whole region, contributing to building a peaceful and prosperous ASEAN community.
