The 8th extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly will take place tomorrow (August 26) to review personnel work.

Secretary General of the National Assembly Bui Van Cuong has announced the tentative agenda of the 8th extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly. Pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution and laws, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly decided to convene the 8th extraordinary session of the 15th National Assembly to consider personnel matters under the authority of the National Assembly. The session will take place in one day, starting at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, August 26, at the National Assembly House. Regarding personnel matters, on August 16, the Party Central Committee decided to introduce personnel and give opinions for the Politburo to introduce personnel to complete the leadership of a number of state agencies for the 2021-2026 term as prescribed. According to the Law on the Organization of the National Assembly, the National Assembly meets regularly twice a year. In case the President, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister or at least one-third of the total number of delegates request, the National Assembly will hold an extraordinary session. Not counting the 8th session that was convened, the 15th National Assembly has had 7 extraordinary sessions, of which 5 were held to consider and decide on high-level personnel. According to the Law on the Organization of the National Assembly, the National Assembly elects the leader of the State, the leader of the National Assembly, and the leaders of State power agencies. At the same time, it approves the Prime Minister's proposal on the appointment of Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers and other members of the Government.
