According to a representative ofSun Group Corporation, during the free trial period (from April 18 to May 15), 10 electric cars running from Phu Long cable car station - Xanh Island central bay will operate continuously to serve tourists.
From May 16, the system will expand to 20 vehicles of each type, with a frequency of 150 trips/day, meeting peak season demand.
Cable car passengers can park their vehicles at the Cat Hai station parking lot of Sun World Cat Ba. The Sun World Cat Ba cable car ticket price is currently discounted to only VND50,000/one-way trip (valid until December 31, 2025).
Also in May, the new electric buggy is expected to be put into operation by the unit to take tourists from Cat Ba marina (Dong Ho bay) to the central bay of Xanh Island, or to the beach and tourist attractions within Xanh Island.
At the same time, two new high-speed train routes will add more water transport options for passengers, helping to shorten travel time.

According to the leaders of Cat Hai district, Cat Ba is witnessing remarkable tourism growth thanks to diverse discovery experiences. In the first two months of 2025, the "Northern pearl island" welcomed more than 280,000 visitors.
However, the transport infrastructure has not kept up with the growth rate. At the "bottleneck" of Dong Bai ferry terminal, there is often a prolonged traffic jam. At times, the number of passengers waiting for the ferry is several kilometers long, causing inconvenience to tourists as well as local people.
On the island, the number of private cars and buses has increased dramatically while the existing public transport is not enough to meet the demand, reducing the quality of the experience and putting pressure on the environment.
The introduction of a carbon-free public transport system to serve tourists is expected to gradually remove traffic bottlenecks. At the same time, limiting the circulation of personal gasoline-powered vehicles on the island helps protect the environment, gradually positioning Cat Ba as the first green, ecological, carbon-free island in Vietnam.
In 2025, Cat Ba is expected to attract 4 million visitors. To prepare for an explosive summer, the new Cat Ba beach (Ladies Beach) will officially open on the occasion of the April 30 holiday. The VUI-Fest night market with 36 eco-friendly stalls will also be launched, creating a rich cultural and night entertainment space.
