By the end of April 7, according to statistics compiled by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, total sales revenue over four days of operation is estimated to reach more than VND 140 billion, an increase of 33.3% compared to 2023 (VND 105 billion) and an increase of 16.67% compared to 2019.

Statistics from businesses show that foreign tours account for over 70% of the number of tours sold at the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival.

According to the Vietravel sales department, after four days of the festival, the booth welcomed more than 12,000 visitors, including more than 6,600 bookings for preferential tours. The popular tour products are tours to the Central region, sea tours in Nha Trang, Phu Quoc...

In particular, many new products were well received such as the family product set with children's playground, the 5-star train transportation product set, the Go Green tourism product set and the Vietnamese culinary essence product set. The Thailand charter tour flying with Vietravel Airlines with prices starting from only 4.99 million VND was also quickly booked by many tourists and sold out quickly.

Saigontourist Travel estimates that the three-day festival's revenue reached over 7.5 billion VND. TST Tourist earned over 11.4 billion VND after four days.

"The booth welcomed more than 5,000 visitors, of which the number of visitors buying tours averaged 40 requests. On the last day until the afternoon of April 7, there were more than 60 requests to book tours. This is a very positive number," said Mr. Nguyen Minh Man, in charge of communications at TST Tourist.

Benthanh Tourist representative also said that sales increased 4 times compared to last year, with an average of about 1,000 visitors/day. "There are not too many visitors but the purchasing power is very good in terms of value and number of tours. Visitors come to the fair with a clear goal of finding tours at good prices, an opportunity to enjoy promotional programs, so they close purchases quite quickly" - Ms. Tran Phuong Linh, marketing and technology director of the unit, said.

Not only is the number of visitors high, but the payment level is also higher, averaging from 18 - 19 million VND/person. There are businesses that receive contracts worth more than 300 million VND for groups of 10 people to go to Japan right at the festival. Tour buyers are also strongly differentiated, either buying high-end tours to receive high discounts or just hunting for stimulus tours with high prices from 40 - 60%.

The promotional products have actually contributed to stimulating consumer demand, creating more opportunities for customers to buy tours at low prices. Another reason for the increase in sales of the booths is the way promotions are organized. Most of them offer big discounts for those who buy tours in groups, the more people the bigger the discount, the average group of customers is from 2-8 people. This is also a way of traveling that is expected to explode this summer.

More effective marketing methods are needed

According to Mr. Ho An Phong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, this festival is also an opportunity for tourism businesses to exchange and better understand the current operation of the tourism industry. The form of traveling without a tour or traveling independently is becoming more and more popular. This trend is further promoted by the "reign" of digital transformation.

Changes in traveler behavior force businesses to step up research and design diverse and flexible products and services that suit individual needs and experiences.

"To successfully reach customers, it is necessary to have effective marketing methods through social networks, influencers, websites, mobile applications, SMS, press communications, search engine optimization, email...", Mr. Phong commented.
