During a trip to Japan, I was introduced to the series of 36 views of Mount Fuji by Hokusai (1760 - 1849). Among them, the most famous painting in his series, "The Great Wave off Kanagawa", was introduced to us by our tour guide on the journey to Mount Fuji. The picture depicts Mount Fuji, but the space itself is the wave. The scene depicts three waves rising high and foaming, with Mount Fuji in the painting covered in white snow rising majestically in the background, seemingly still peaceful despite the angry sea.
Why do I mention the picture of ocean waves and Mount Fuji? Because it seems that ocean waves are not just water that floods the shore, but also a temptation for anyone standing in front of the ocean, no matter where the ocean is. Ocean waves are like the nuances and moods of people, sometimes gently caressing the shore, sometimes jumping up and screaming as if wanting to sweep everything away.
Nha Trang is a coastal city, the sea stretches along Tran Phu and Pham Van Dong streets. If you want to see the waves in the city, just drive out to the sea, park your bike somewhere on the shore, then step onto the sand, the waves will caress your feet. Those are beautiful sunny summer days, the gentle waves bring a sense of tranquility to those standing in front of the sea. On stormy days, go to the sea to see the waves curving into a water arch. When taking a boat to the islands, you will see the waves passionately caressing the rocky cliffs. On the road from Nha Trang to Luong Son, winding around the mountains are emotional curves. Stop at any curve, look down and you will see the waves caressing the pebble beaches, the rocky cliffs like a date.
I have been to many places, and even though my city has a sea, I still love watching the waves move wherever I go. Phu Quoc is surrounded by the sea, so you can watch the sunrise and sunset on the sea. At Mieu Cau, the rocks are shaped in many shapes, like a place for the waves to caress. There, the waves come in and fall freely like a child's game. Take the cable car to Hon Thom, look down and see the waves chasing the ships.
The waves are also the journeys on ships to somewhere. It is the high-speed ship from Bach Dang wharf to Vung Tau, the ship from Phu Quoc to Ha Tien or the ship from Sa Ky port to Ly Son island. Climbing on the deck of the ship, watching the waves follow. The waves seem to attract the seagulls to fly tirelessly, the white waves just drift away, drift away...
The sea has been around for a long, long time. The waves of the sea are part of our desires, and maybe even our dreams. Even if there is a sea in your place, you still like to jump into the sea you have just arrived at, to be caressed by the sea. So that one day, when your heart is not at peace, you can go to the sea and watch the waves express themselves.
