Nestlé Vietnam promotes gender equality and women's development

On March 31, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Women's Union (VWU), Ms. Tran Lan Phuong, Vice President of the VWU and Mr. Binu Jacob, General Director of Nestlé Vietnam, had a working session to discuss the results of strategic cooperation between the two sides in the 2020-2024 period and the direction of implementing activities in the 2025-2027 period.

Based on the shared commitment and goal of promoting gender equality, Nestlé Vietnam and the Vietnam Women's Union officially signed a cooperation agreement in December 2020 to implement the program "Nestlé accompanies women". The program aims to promote gender equality activities, empower women through health care and nutrition activities, ensure safety for women and children, apply digitalization, support women to start businesses, increase income, improve quality of life, contributing to supporting women's comprehensive development in the digital transformation period.

By the end of 2024, the program has helped equip knowledge and skills for more than 25,400 members, helping more than 2 million households access knowledge about nutrition and food safety and hygiene, helping to create and maintain thousands of sustainable livelihood models for women.

Sharing at the meeting, Ms. Tran Lan Phuong said: "The Vietnam Women's Union highly appreciates the companionship and cooperation of Nestlé Vietnam with the Union's movements through the program "Nestlé accompanies women". The program provides female members with more knowledge and skills to access and apply digital technology, earn more income, improve the quality of family life, enhance power and boldness. The program supports women to develop comprehensively in the digital transformation period, contributing to the implementation of the goals set by the 13th National Women's Congress.

The program helps create and maintain thousands of sustainable livelihood models, helping women members become more confident and affirm their position in the family as well as the community.

In the coming time, the two sides will discuss specific directions for integrating this cooperation program into major government projects such as the women's start-up program to reach and bring practical results to more members.

Mr. Binu Jacob said that Nestlé Vietnam appreciates the recognition of the Vietnam Women's Union and considers this an important motivation to continue implementing effective cooperation activities between the two sides, helping female members, especially women in rural areas, have the opportunity to develop themselves, truly affirm their position in the family as well as in work, ready to adapt and grow with Vietnam in the new era.

Based on the assessment and recognition of the above positive contributions, at the meeting, Ms. Tran Lan Phuong, on behalf of the Vietnam Women's Union, presented Mr. Binu Jacob, General Director of Nestlé Vietnam, with the "For the Development of Vietnamese Women" medal.
