Hanoi, October 20, 2024 - "5000 Happy Steps" - Walking Festival for Vietnamese Cancer Patients was organized by Salt Cancer Initiative (SCI) - Salt Cancer Initiative Organization with the support of Nestlé Health Science. The event aims to spread the message "You don't have to fight cancer alone", connect the community in the fight against cancer, and energize cancer patients and their loved ones in their health care journey.
“5000 Steps of Happiness” with the participation of doctors and experts
"5000 Happy Steps" is not only a physical activity but also an opportunity for everyone to share, spread love and hope. The festival is a bridge connecting more than 1500 cancer patients, relatives, and the community to encourage each other, bring positive energy to overcome difficulties together. The main theme of the program "5000 Happy Steps" - Walking Festival for Vietnamese Cancer Patients 2024 is "Happy K".
With the theme “Happy K”, the program wants to convey the message of happiness to cancer patients as well as the community.
Cancer is often known as K such as: Thyroid K, Lung K, Breast K, etc. Therefore, when mentioning the letter K, the first thought of patients and society is often about a terrible disease that brings sadness and negative feelings. To change that thinking, Salt Cancer Initiative wants to bring a more optimistic perspective, encouraging the community to open their hearts to receive other happy K letters, such as Memories, Connections, Expectations, Desires, Health, etc., or K letters associated with meaningful images, important and beautiful memories not only for patients, but also for healthy people who accompany them. With the theme "Happy K", Salt Cancer Initiative wants to convey the message that happiness is a process that we go through together, not a destination.
Overview of the seminar on nutrition for cancer patients
With the support of Nestlé Health Science, in addition to the walking activity, Salt Cancer Initiative also organized a nutrition workshop led by Professor, Dr. Le Thi Huong, Former Director of the Institute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health - Hanoi Medical University. At the workshop, Professor, Dr. Le Thi Huong shared useful knowledge about nutrition, exercise and comprehensive health care for cancer patients. Professor Le Thi Huong emphasized: “Nutrition plays an important role in the treatment of cancer because nutrition not only supports the treatment but also helps improve the quality of life for patients. Proper nutrition helps patients face the treatment process with strength and feel happy moments in life”.
Mr. Zubin Trikha, Head of Specialty Nutrition, Nestlé Health Science Vietnam, shared: “We are honored to accompany this meaningful event. Nestlé Health Science always wants to bring the best nutritional solutions to improve the quality of life for everyone. Through events like “5000 happy steps”, we have the opportunity to share joy, hope and strength from the solidarity and support of the community. We want to send a message to cancer patients that they are not alone. With appropriate nutritional support and the companionship and sharing of the community, we can help cancer patients not only overcome the disease but also enjoy life to the fullest.
The "5000 Happy Steps" event has left a deep impression, helping to raise awareness and inspire hope in the community. We believe that the collaboration between Salk Cancer Initiative and Nestlé Health Science to organize meaningful activities like this can significantly improve the lives of cancer patients.
