Today, May 30, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DONRE) held a workshop to improve the effectiveness of environmental protection in livestock farming activities in Quang Tri province.

The province currently has 697 livestock and poultry farms. Of these, 23 are large-scale farms; 209 are medium-scale farms; and 465 are small-scale farms.
Every year, there are dozens of project dossiers of enterprises requesting the Provincial People's Committee to grant investment policies in the livestock sector with a total committed capital of thousands of billions of VND.
However, livestock farming is becoming a hot issue, especially the odor pollution from pig farms in Cam Lo, Huong Hoa, Hai Lang, Vinh Linh districts...
Delegates attending the workshop listened to representatives of leaders and experts from the Department of Environmental Protection, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, and the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Monitoring present an overview of livestock farming activities in the province and the current environmental status in livestock farming activities.
The situation of construction and implementation of waste treatment projects, environmental protection measures and environmental management of livestock farms such as livestock wastewater treatment models in some farms that have been implemented after the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 officially took effect and were inspected and guided by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment; the current situation of solid waste treatment (before the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 officially took effect); assessment of environmental management of livestock farms; environmental management of departments, branches, and localities.
Some regulations on livestock farming activities such as livestock scale; livestock farming conditions; granting certificates of eligibility for livestock farming; regulations on livestock density; instructions on disease management; regulations on the reuse of wastewater and solid waste in livestock farming. Current status of waste treatment applied at pig farms; proposed waste treatment technology in pig farming.
Delegates spent time exchanging and discussing issues related to environmental protection in livestock farming activities in Quang Tri province.
