On the afternoon of February 12 (the 3rd day of Tet), the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) informed that the Phu My District Police (Binh Dinh Province) are clarifying the case in which Tran Nguyen Hoang An (born 2007, from Dak Lak) drove a motorbike and injured a traffic police officer on the same morning.
According to the Traffic Police Department, on the same morning, the Tuy Phuoc Traffic Police Station Working Group (under the Traffic Police Department of Binh Dinh Province Police) consisted of 9 officers, tasked with handling violations on National Highway 1 from km1125+400 to km1185.

At 11:30 a.m. the same day, the task force discovered a motorbike without a license plate, driven by a young man traveling from North to South, so they signaled the vehicle to stop for inspection, but the male driver did not comply with the traffic police's orders.
At that moment, Captain Nguyen Dinh Long, an officer of the working group, continued to signal the vehicle to stop, but the young man accelerated and ran away, hitting Captain Long, causing both of them to fall onto the road.
After hitting Captain Nguyen Dinh Long, the male motorcyclist was restrained by the police, while Captain Long suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Binh Dinh General Hospital for emergency treatment by the working group.
Through initial examination, Captain Nguyen Dinh Long suffered a broken left elbow bone and a broken right fibula bone.

The Traffic Police Department said that after determining the driver of the motorbike that committed the above violation, it was Tran Nguyen Hoang An (born in 2007, from Dak Lak). The motorbike that An was driving had the license plate 47E1-378.59, the owner was Huynh Thi H. (born in 1964, from Dak Lak).
Through a quick test, Tran Nguyen Hoang An tested negative for drugs and did not violate alcohol concentration.
