On October 23, the My Thuan Project Management Board announced that it had completed the pre-feasibility study report on the Ha Tien - Rach Gia - Bac Lieu expressway construction investment project and submitted it to the Ministry of Transport for consideration.
The Ha Tien - Rach Gia - Bac Lieu Expressway starts at Ha Tien border gate and ends in Bac Lieu province (CT35 road).
Accordingly, the project is more than 175km long, passing through four provinces: Kien Giang, Hau Giang, Soc Trang and Bac Lieu.
The project is designed with a scale of four lanes and construction of intersections on the route, traffic organization, rest stops, intelligent traffic systems... ensuring compliance with current standards and regulations.
To build the expressway according to this design, it is necessary to clear more than 1,275 hectares of land with about 1,688 households affected. Of which, rice land is about 1,187.5 hectares, residential land is about 58.4 hectares, perennial land is about 45.8 hectares, and the rest is other types of land.
The route is in compliance with the Road Network Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister.
Specifically, the starting point of the project connects with the Ha Tien border gate area (Kien Giang province) towards National Highway 80 and intersects with Lo Te - Rach Soi route, Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway.
The end point is at the intersection with National Highway 1 in Bac Lieu city, Bac Lieu province.
Total investment is about 80,836 billion VND. Construction is expected to start in 2026 and be completed in four years.
According to the My Thuan Project Management Board, the project connects with the Lo Te - Rach Soi and Can Tho - Ca Mau axes. From there, a central horizontal axis of the Mekong Delta region is formed, meeting the transportation needs on the Northwest - Southeast economic corridor of the region.
At the same time, create space and motivation for regional space development with a synchronous technical and social infrastructure system, connecting economic centers in the region and international border gates.
From there, enhance competitiveness, create linkage momentum, promote cooperation and regional development, contribute to ensuring national defense and security, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, and gradually successfully implement socio-economic development goals and strategies according to the resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.
