On the night of May 8, in Nghia Do commune, Bao Yen district, there were thunderstorms and heavy rains. Water flow from upstream caused flash floods and localized flooding, damaging many properties and facilities of local people.

According to initial statistics from the People's Committee of Nghia Do commune, storms and floods have damaged 29 houses; 4 households were flooded, mud and soil flooded into their houses; Tham Ma village school was eroded; 10 irrigation works were damaged; 5 rural traffic routes were eroded, affecting people's travel.

Regarding agricultural, forestry and fishery production: storms and floods caused 11.45 hectares of rice and crops, agricultural crops to be broken and buried (3.3 hectares of rice; 2.29 hectares of crops); 1.9 hectares of aquaculture ponds and lakes were broken or overflowed.
The total estimated damage caused by floods is over 1.1 billion VND.

Immediately after the storm and flood, the Commune's Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue mobilized local forces and people to support affected households to overcome the consequences and stabilize their lives.

According to the forecast of Lao Cai Hydrometeorological Station, in the coming days, the flood situation in the province will continue to be complicated, with a high risk of flash floods, landslides and inundation. Therefore, people need to proactively take measures to prevent and combat natural disasters.
