These days, Mr. Chau Soc Sa (residing in O Lam commune, Tri Ton district) is extremely excited to celebrate the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay New Year with the deep concern of all levels, sectors and localities. In particular, he was also honored to attend a meeting of prestigious people in the Khmer ethnic minority community organized by the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions and the Provincial People's Committee in Tri Ton district.

Mr. Chau Soc Sa shared: “The Khmer people in Tri Ton district have received attention and support in terms of economic life and social security, especially the children have been given the opportunity to go to school to learn. Therefore, we are very grateful for the special attention of the Party, the State, the District Party Committee and the People's Committee of Tri Ton district towards the Khmer people. As prestigious people in the community, we are given the opportunity to promote our role in propagating and mobilizing people to comply with the Party's policies and the State's laws, as well as to contribute to building increasingly clean and civilized villages and hamlets”.

Currently, many rural roads in Tri Ton district have been concreted by socialization, many Khmer families have been supported with housing, land, clean water, and job conversion, so the economic life of the people is increasingly prosperous. Thanks to that, the villages and hamlets on Chol Chnam Thmay days are also happier and more excited.

Sharing the same joy, Venerable Elder Chau Ty, abbot of Soai So Tom Nop Pagoda (Nui To Commune, Tri Ton District) said: “The attention of the Party, the State, and authorities at all levels in recent times has created trust in the hearts of the Khmer people, helping them to be excited about doing business to escape poverty and build prosperous villages and hamlets. As Uncle Ho taught, unity is the strength to achieve success. Buddhist teachings also affirm that unity is the strength of living beings to overcome all difficulties and obstacles. Therefore, the monk will continue to encourage people to always believe in the Party, the State, and always comply with the policies of the local government, and unite to build Tri Ton land to develop more and more.”

Regarding the work of caring for the lives of Khmer people in the locality, Chairman of Tri Ton District People's Committee Nguyen Van Be Tam informed: Tri Ton currently has 32.84% of the population being ethnic minorities, with 37 Khmer Theravada worshiping establishments. Therefore, the locality pays special attention to supporting the economic, cultural and spiritual life of the people. On the occasion of Chol Chnam Thmay every year, together with the local political system, the District People's Committee always organizes visits and encourages pagodas and creates useful playgrounds for Khmer people. At the same time, it also combines many resources to support Khmer ethnic minorities in terms of residential land, housing, domestic water, support for purchasing machinery, providing agricultural production services and other occupations to help people improve their lives and escape poverty sustainably.

In Tinh Bien town, the work of caring for the lives of Khmer ethnic minorities has also received special attention. Notably, the positive results in implementing the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development for Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2025 period and implementing ethnic policies in the town are outstanding.

According to Vice Chairman of Tinh Bien Town People's Committee Ly Thuy Van, with the special attention of the Town Party Committee, the Town People's Committee and other sectors and localities, policies for ethnic minorities have been implemented promptly, contributing to promoting the fields of agriculture, trade, services and social security to achieve positive results, and the lives of Khmer people have become more and more stable.

Specifically, Khmer people have access to careers, job creation and participation in labor in the provinces of Long An, Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City. The work of developing education, training and improving the quality of human resources for ethnic minorities has always been of interest. The town currently has 138 Khmer teachers actively participating in human resource training for the locality. In particular, the rate of poor households of ethnic minorities in Tinh Bien town is 273 households, accounting for 3.47% of the total number of ethnic households in the town. The above results show the efforts of the locality in the process of caring for the material and spiritual life of the Khmer people.

Meeting with Khmer ethnic minorities in An Giang on the occasion of the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay New Year 2025, Deputy Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Y Thong expressed his joy and excitement at the positive changes in the economic and cultural life of the people, contributing positively to the economic, cultural and social achievements of the province in recent times. “The locality needs to continue to implement ethnic and religious policies well, in conjunction with social security policies. Continue to pay attention to supporting and caring for the material and spiritual life of the people, especially poor households, near-poor households, and families in difficult circumstances. On this occasion, I wish the Khmer people in An Giang to celebrate the Chol Chnam Thmay New Year 2025 in solidarity, joy, health, safety, savings, in accordance with the civilized lifestyle, customs, practices, and fine cultural traditions of the nation” - Deputy Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Y Thong emphasized.
