On the evening of March 25, at the Russian Center for Science and Culture (Hanoi), the archival document exhibition "Vietnam-Sverdlovsk Province: Historical Pages" opened, attracting a large number of students, researchers and the public interested in Vietnam-Russia relations.
The exhibition displays many valuable documents from the Sverdlovsk Oblast State Archives, the documentation center of the Oblast's social organizations, as well as artifacts provided by the Uralmashzavod Historical Museum and local residents.
In particular, the photos recording President Ho Chi Minh's visit to Sverdlovsk province in July 1955 are an important highlight of the exhibition, helping viewers have a realistic view of a memorable historical period.
Sharing about the significance of the exhibition, Deputy Minister of Economic and Foreign Relations Alexander Sergeevich Alexandrovich of Sverdlovsk Province emphasized that the exhibition is a gift that the people of the province want to give to the people of Vietnam on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation (1950-2025).
“The exhibition is not only a commemorative event, but also a vivid demonstration of the friendship between the two countries. We hope that the young generation of Vietnam will better understand the years of cooperation, the Soviet Union's support for Vietnam during the war, and the training programs for Vietnamese students in Sverdlovsk province," said Mr. Alexander Sergeevich Alexandrovich.

The Soviet Union established diplomatic relations with Vietnam on January 30, 1950. The earliest documents kept in the Sverdlovsk Oblast archives related to Vietnam are all related to President Ho Chi Minh's visit to Sverdlovsk, and the Vietnam-Sverdlovsk Exhibition uses these documents.
The exhibition’s title is taken from official Soviet press publications following the visit to the Soviet Union in 1955 by President and Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam Ho Chi Minh. Official reports following the meeting between the Soviet leaders and President Ho Chi Minh wrote that the talks between the two countries held in Moscow “demonstrated the unity of views of the Governments of the Soviet Union and the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on international issues as well as in the political, economic and cultural fields.”
A special part of the Exhibition was President Ho Chi Minh's visit to the city of Sverdlovsk from July 11-12, 1955.
In the video recording of the welcoming speech, the Director of the State Archives emphasized that Sverdlovsk province has made positive contributions to the development of relations between the two countries, including an important milestone being the visit of legendary leader Ho Chi Minh to the locality.
Sverdlovsk Oblast has published an album about President Ho Chi Minh's activities in the locality on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of this historic visit.
After President Ho Chi Minh's visit, the first Vietnamese students were sent to study at the Ural Polytechnic University, one of the leading universities in Ural, Sverdlovsk.
Not only displaying documents, the exhibition is also a space for exchange, where generations who studied and worked in the former Soviet Union and present-day Russia have the opportunity to share memories. The exhibition also attracts many young people from schools such as the Academy of Journalism and Propaganda, the Diplomatic Academy, the Vietnam Youth Academy... to visit.
In addition to historical documents, the Exhibition introduces new cooperation projects in the fields of education and scientific research between Vietnam and Sverdlovsk Oblast. This is a positive signal showing that the friendly relationship between the two countries is not only a golden history, but also a substantive cooperation, which is being continued to be preserved and developed by the younger generation.
