Vietnamese people's favorite dish is among the 10 most 'divisive' dishes in the world

Vermite

Many Britons use Vermite, a sauce made from brewer's yeast, instead of butter when eating on toast or sandwiches. The sauce is dark brown, slightly salty and thick. Many Britons often bring Mermite when traveling abroad. However, for many people, especially foreign visitors to the UK, Mermite is "inedible" because of its pungent and "brutally strong" smell.

Steak Tartare

The famous French dish is often accompanied by the question "Is it safe?". Steak tartare is actually a piece of raw or chopped beef - sometimes horse meat - and is often served with a raw egg yolk on top just to add to the fear factor. Anyone who trusts their stomach completely after eating it is extremely daring.

Horseflesh

Popular in Europe, for example, visitors can see trucks and market stalls selling horse burgers in Slovenia. However, horse meat is not popular in many countries, including Australia. Eating horse meat in Australia is not a tradition, like eating dog or rat meat...

Phaal Ghost Pepper

On the Scoville scale, which measures the spiciness of chili peppers, this one has 3.18 million Scoville units and is unsafe to eat. The Carolina Reaper and Dragon's Breath peppers also have more than 2 million Scovilles, while for comparison, the dreaded habanero only reaches 300,000 Scovilles.

Some restaurants in the US sell a phaal curry with ghost peppers from Bangladesh. These “spicy monsters” score around 1 million on the Scoville scale, and the restaurant describes it as “a fiery hot curry that causes more pain and sweat than flavor.”

Hakarl

Eating shark is not an uncommon practice in many countries. However, in Iceland, people have turned Greenland shark into something terrifying - fermenting the shark meat and drying it for four or five months until it smells strongly of ammonia. The delicacy is called hakarl - "the most horrible food on earth".

Noni fruit

The health food industry has embraced noni – a greenish-white fruit that grows in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands. Noni juice is said to have great anti-inflammatory properties, but it tastes strange. Think of what cheese that has been left out in the sun for a few days smells like.

Haggis

Scotland's most infamous dish is essentially a sausage-like concoction of various offal. Sheep's heart, liver and lungs are combined with chopped onions, herbs, spices, oatmeal and stuffed into a sheep's stomach and boiled until cooked.

Poutine

This is a national dish of Canada, including main ingredients such as french fries, meat sauce, cheese... The dish is said to cause indigestion and bloating for many people, especially tourists when coming to the maple leaf country.

Rocky Mountain Oysters

Rocky Mountain Oysters are not actually rocky mountain oysters but a dish made from bull testicles. This part of the bull is sliced, coated in batter, deep fried, and dipped in tomato sauce. The dish is popular in some states in the US such as Colorado and also in Canada.

Durian is famous and popular in some Asian countries.

Durian

Durian tends to be both revered and feared in Southeast Asia. In many countries in the region such as Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, etc., visitors can see signs prohibiting durian in many places, including hotel rooms, on planes and other public transport. The reason is that durian smells like sweat or wet feet to many people. However, those who do not find them "horrible" will be fascinated by the pulp inside, which has a texture similar to custard and ripe banana. Durian is not only eaten fresh but also processed into many different dishes such as sweet soup, cakes, etc.
